Reflexology Helping Cure Winter Blues!

Reflexology Helping Cure Winter Blues!

As Winter sets in, many of us will start feeling more aches and pains as our cold, inactive muscles cramp up; and let's not forget the onset of colds and flu. This time of the year we all may find ourselves being sluggish, becoming less active, embracing the urge to eat more, and basically just wanting to cuddle up on the couch with a blanket and a cup of something hot.

So what can we do about it?

Reflexology is a great way to battle winter blues. An hour-long foot massage that works on all the body systems via reflex points, Reflexology stimulates reflexes on the feet to provoke beneficial effects on body parts, organs, and generate balance.

The treatment stimulates circulation throughout the body, generating warmth - particularly good for those with cold hands and feet. Achy muscles and joints will benefit too as sluggish blood flows improves.

For those who suffer from yearly colds or flu, the immune system may need a boost. Reflexology helps with this by stimulating the lymphatic system, which carries infection-fighting white blood cells throughout the body and clears away waste and toxins. With regular treatment, Reflexology may act as a preventative measure keeping those coughs and colds away.

With regular treatment feelings of wellbeing will increase, and who knows? Maybe you can kiss those winter blues goodbye.

Reflexology for Children

As a Reflexologist it was just normal to do a little Reflexology for my granddaughter. She would be with me one day a week and when she would have trouble relaxing at nap time, I would just say "let me rub your feet". It would not take very long before she was off to sleep.

I now have two granddaughters and they love Reflexology. My daughter and her family moved away but not a visit goes by without my granddaughters saying "Gram, can you do my feet?" Which is music to my ears.

Reflexology is helpful for children in a wide range of issues such as headaches, colds, inability to sleep. Giving a child Reflexology only takes a short time and can produce many benefits.

Aside from the physical advantages there are emotional benefits in a session of Reflexology that would make it worth the investment.

January Oil of the Month
Basil Essential Oil

January 2017's Essential Oil of the Month is Basil Essential Oil which is steam distilled from the flowering herb and is a colorless to pale yellow color.

In addition to having a sweet spicy scent with balsamic undertone this oil has been historically used in cooking and as a medicinal herb in Ayurvedic tradition and in Ancient Greece.

If you have trouble focusing just add 3 - 6 drops of Basil Essential Oil into a diffuser and see if that helps! Also use this Essential Oil for headaches, just inhale Basil Essential Oil from the bottle or rub a drop in the palm of your hand/on a tissue.

Foot Tip Of The Month:  Dry Skin Risks Calluses and Cracks!

Cold air cannot hold as much humidity, so winter air tends to dry out your skin. Add to that hours spent in buildings with forced air heating, and the problem is compounded. Dry skin can lead to built-up layers of calluses.

Winter foot care to counteract the dryness includes a daily moisturizing routine to keep skin supple and smooth.

You can use a heavier moisturizer at night especially in callus-prone areas like your heels, toes, and the ball of your foot-and cover them with warm socks so it can work overnight while you are sleeping. Also try giving yourself an impromptu foot massage!

Wishing that January 2017 and this New Year are Incredible for you and yours!
