GENESIS: In the Beginning” is the men’s Bible study at St. Matthew. Study is held on Saturdays at 9:00 a.m.

The decision has been reached to offer Catechism Instruction using a Virtual Approach, that is, that all teaching and guidance in learning will take place online. In the beginning of November, an evaluation will be made and a decision reached regarding the Spring Semester. Please contact Pastor Kinne or Pastor Blonski if you have any questions.
All 5th graders of the congregation are invited to attend VIRTUAL Online pre-confirmation classes on Sunday mornings at 11:00am. Class began on Sunday, September 13, 2020 A email invitation was sent to all 5th grade parents on September 4. Please contact Pastor Kinne if you have any questions.

Classes will also be achieved on the Internet for those who may miss a week.
This study will use the Bible as the text. We will explore the Mind, Method, Manner and Ministry of Jesus. The course will bring in external sources of the geography of the land of Israel, the history and the customs of the people, and setting of 1st Century Israel. Each class will be 1 ½ hrs in length.
St. Matthew Lutheran Church and Early Childhood Center is
seeking teachers to help run our E-learning Pods. These pods will house kindergarten through fifth graders and provide them with a space to do their e-learning during the day. Teachers need to have an educational background in kindergarten through 8th grade. We also ask that you have strong technology skills. C.O.O.L. (Christian Outreach of Lutherans) - C.O.O.L. (Christian Outreach of Lutherans) - a food pantry for some of the neediest families in Lake County. Please bring a can of food/box of cereal with you when you worship and place them in the bins in Luther Hall. October food item is Breakfast Items. Thank you for supporting this outreach ministry.

October 24th—Sharing The Joy Trick Or Treat
Sharing the Joy has put together fun Trick-Or-Treat good bags for the kids to enjoy. You are invited to come to St. Matthew on Saturday, October 24 from 10:00am-11:00am for a drive up "Trick-or-Treat" Halloween. When picking-up, please drive up to the school gym entrance (door 2) and you will be handed your goodies. There will be 2 people from St. Matthew handing out the goodie bags, these people will have gloves and masks on. All we ask is that nobody gets out of their cars and follow the traffic flow.

November 11th—Meal
Sharing The Joy Of A Meal - Meals TBD, RSVP by November 6th.
On Going Needs
STJ is working with several local townships & women’s shelters. Their biggest needs are cleaning supplies:
Bathroom, Dish Soap, Hand Soap, Floor Cleaner,
Laundry Detergent, Bleach
If you would like to help, you can bring these items into the church office and Sharing the Joy will deliver to the centers.
Angel Tree
Sharing the Joy will be having their holiday Angel Tree in the Narthex for Christmas. The Angel Tree will have Christmas Wishes from local families that are experiencing a hardship. 
The Angel Tree will be ready by November 20th.

The semiannual meeting of the Voters’ Assembly will take place Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Noon in the Sanctuary. This meeting is to elect the leaders of the congregation: the Officers and members of the various Boards.
There is room for individuals to serve the Lord in this capacity. Please pray to the Lord and consider in what ways He might be leading you in the decision making of St. Matthew Congregation.

St. Matthew Thanksgiving Dinner Update - Due to Covid, St. Matthew will not be able to have a “Sit-In” Thanksgiving Dinner. However, the St. Matthew Thanksgiving Dinner Team would still like to supply those in need with a Thanksgiving  Dinner. You will be able to pick-up a homemade Thanksgiving meal the morning of Thursday, November 26th. If you are   interested in getting a Thanksgiving meal please contact Cheri Selimos at 847/438-7709 or selimos@stmattsonline.com.

This week our Emerging Skills and Interest is: Exploring Types of Corn! The Number of the Week is 5. The Letter of the Week is I, and our theme for Show & Share. In Religious Studies, the preschoolers are learning about Baby Moses. The children enjoyed an Inhouse Fall Fun Field Trip. The children will enjoy
special games, activities and snacks. We are all looking forward to a fun time!
