WIHA Update | Wisconsin Institute for Healthy Aging

February 2025

Hello Partners,

The Reframing Aging and Disability Movement is looking for individuals to join Wisconsin’s network of passionate leaders who seek to change the way our society thinks and talks about aging and disability.

With the advent of evidence-based framing strategies through the National Center to Reframe Aging (NCRA) and their research partner, the FrameWorks Institute, industry leaders and advocates see an opportunity to make a meaningful impact that advances age-inclusive policies. While this initial work is focused on aging, there is relevance for the disability community, and advocates continue to seek out equally impactful resources that speak more directly to ableism. We are committed to addressing both ageism and ableism, as they are closely linked and can have a significant impact on quality of life.

With leadership from the Wisconsin Aging Advocacy Network and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, we are taking steps to advance effective communication strategies about aging. Part of the multi-faceted activities includes presentations and workshops from the National Center to Reframe Aging. These events will educate key public health and aging network leaders and partners about the concepts to reframe aging and teach us how to consistently apply the communications strategies as effective framers.

We’re aging. All of us. And it’s up to each of us to take good care of ourselves and our health as we age. That’s where we come in. We’re here to help people help themselves to better health. But we can’t do it alone! As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we operate on grants and contributions from generous donors and partners. Your support is vital to us as we administer programs and promote practices that encourage good health. With your donation we can serve older adults in the best possible way to increase the quality of their lives. We thank you so much for being a part of our network!
