Refugee and Migrant Sunday
March 17, 2019
For the past three years, our Synod has been organizing Refugee and Migrant Sunday as a Lenten observance. The plight of refugees and continues to be drastic, and their fate uncertain.

As Lutherans, we have always been at the forefront of understanding the refugee experience and welcoming refugees; we have always related to the immigrant experience. On March 17, the second Sunday in Lent, the Synod Justice Team and Global Partners Team of the Synod are calling on all our congregations to join us in a time of prayer and reflection on our call to welcome the stranger.

We have placed a sample sermon (which can also be excerpted for a short talk), and a link to Refugee Stories at the end of this email. We can also connect you with a variety of follow up activities. For more information, please contact Rev. Alexia Salvatierra at [email protected]. If you prefer to highlight this issue on a Sunday other than March 17, please let us know.

We look forward to your participation in this critically important effort.

Blessings,
SWCA Synod Justice and Global Partners Team
