REGAL WEEKLY
April 14 - April 18, 2025
| |
Regina Community,
This coming week, we enter the most sacred week in our Church calendar. Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday and Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem. The Triduum follows:
- Holy Thursday – Commemorates the Last Supper and the institution of the Eucharist
- Good Friday – Remembrance of the crucifixion
- Holy Saturday – Preparation for the Easter vigil
- Easter Sunday – Celebration of the Resurrection
Holy Week is a powerful opportunity to slow down and reflect on Christ’s passion. I encourage you to set aside time as a family: ask your child about school reflections or prayer experiences and attend services at your parish.
Growing up, I remember braiding palms on Palm Sunday and lighting candles during Easter Vigil Mass. My brothers and I also managed to poke each other with palms through the whole mass when my parents weren’t watching. What a gift my parents gave us in these memories rooted in our faith. Do not underestimate the impact you have when prioritizing your family calendar next week.

Regina Yearbook
We’re reaching out from the Regina Yearbook Team to invite you to become a sponsor for this year’s yearbook—a project that celebrates the spirit, growth, and memories of our student body.
Last year, we gave the Regina Yearbook a total refresh—and the response was incredible! We added over 40 pages, increased sales by more than 100 books, and were awarded a Gold Level Distinction for featuring over 93% of our students at least three times in the book. It was our most inclusive and impactful edition yet.
With this growth comes higher production costs. We’re committed to keeping the yearbook affordable for all students, and that’s where your sponsorship can make a real difference. Your support helps offset these costs and ensures that every student has access to a high-quality, meaningful keepsake.
We’d love to have your business featured as one of our valued sponsors. Sponsorship levels and benefits are outlined in the attached graphic. If your donation includes a business shout-out, we’ll feature your name on our Instagram page: @reginayearbook.

Dear Class of 2026 Parents and Other Interested Parties,
Prom is less than three weeks away!! The Junior Class is responsible for planning After Prom and we still need some help from families to gather cash and prize donations. In addition to soliciting donations and cash contributions toward games, we are asking each family to contribute up to $60, as they are able, to support other expenses for the evening. Any unused funds from this pot will go toward next year's Senior Trip. You can drop your contribution as cash or a check made out to XXX to the high school office.
We are still looking for prize donations so that each student who attends can leave the evening with something special to commemorate the night. Please see this sign-up Genius for ideas and to sign-up. Thanks to these businesses who have already contributed: Jamie Venzon/Mike Jensen (Lepic-Kroeger Realtors), Andrea Hicks (Urban Acres), Optimist Club, Wig and Pen Pizza, Jessica Greving (Residential Mortgage Network), Dunkin Donuts, & Herteen and Stocker Jewelers. If you know of any local businesses who would be willing to make a contribution, please reach out to them and add the donated item(s) to the Sign-up Genius.
Additionally, we still need monetary donations to cover the cost of a few rented games and activities. We are hoping to have a Hills Bank Cash Grab, Bouncy House Obstacle Course, and Photo Booth.
Finally, we are ready to find some willing volunteers to share this fun evening with your prom-goers!! Please check out this Volunteer Sign-up Genius and join us for a memorable night of Games and fun!
Please contact Heather Erwin (319-621-5738; heather-erwin@uiowa.edu) or members of the Planning Committee with questions or ideas.
Thanks! Go Regal Class of 2026!
Your After Prom Planning Committee,
Colleen Bell, Heather Erwin, Jessica Greving & Megan Recker

REGINA EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER
This week, ECC is spotlighting the Dove room. The Doves have been exploring the concepts of reducing, reusing, and recycling, along with learning about composting. In honor of Earth Day, the students took part in a cleanup effort, picking up trash around their playground before recess. They also created "Artsy Pizzas," where students reused various materials to craft artistic pizza slices as part of their art project. Additionally, the Doves are preparing for a visit from Jane Wilch, the Recycling Coordinator from Iowa City, who will be speaking to the children in more detail about the importance of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
Upcoming Events:
- April 16: Deacon Angel will lead a prayer service for Holy Week (parents are invited to join).
-
April 18: Early dismissal – ECC will close at 11:30 AM.
-
April 21: ECC will be closed for voluntary Parent-Teacher conferences.
