REGAL WEEKLY

Jan. 27th - 31st, 2025

Regina Community,

As we close out Catholic Schools Week, this year's theme, "United in Faith and Community," reflects what we have celebrated all week. We welcomed community members into our elementary classrooms, packed the gym for Mass, shared lunch with parish partners, had police officers reading to preschoolers, and heard from alumni speaking to our junior and senior high students.

This week, we stepped outside our routines to intentionally celebrate Catholic schools. We are grateful for the support of our community: parents, benefactors, parish partners, and friends.

Our Catholic schools, in partnership with you as parents and our parishes, have the most important role in passing on the faith. This is not the work of one person alone. We are all called to make faith come alive. Our regals need to see that faith extends beyond prayer at school. Every week, they need to witness us growing in faith, talking about God at home, praying together and prioritizing Sunday Mass. We will continue to do the same here at Regina.

Our mission is to create future saints. Let’s dare to believe that can be your child!

Please submit requests for the Regal Weekly HERE by Wednesday 3:00 p.m.

REGINA EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER

This week, the ECC is spotlighting the Eagles’ classroom, where students have been focusing on movement and exercise. The Eagles participated in a fun hula hoop relay and practiced various body movement exercises. They also drew pictures of their favorite exercises and wrote descriptions of what they had drawn.

In a creative twist on learning letter sounds, the Eagles took part in a “snowball fight,” where they had to say the sound of a letter and then throw their “snowball” at the corresponding letter. Another exciting activity was hallway ice skating, where the students used their tummy muscles and legs to glide across the floor in homemade ice skates.

This week, the ECC welcomed the Iowa City Police Department, who came in to share what they do at work and talk about city rules. The students had the opportunity to ask questions and listen to a special story about the role of police officers.

The entire ECC also celebrated Catholic Schools Week with dress-up days and special activities.

Upcoming Events:

  • Groundhog Day: February 2nd
  • President’s Day: February 17th (No school)
