As we prepare for the Thanksgiving break, I want to thank our students, staff and families for making Regina a truly special community. As I observe staff and student interactions, the genuine care and admiration they have for one another is evident. Our families are invested in their children’s education and in the Regina community. The celebration of Staff Appreciation Week is a prime example of how supportive our families are of the Regina staff. On behalf of the staff and administration, I want to thank Home & School and all those who contributed to a great week of festivities!

Congratulations to Director Matt Falduto and the cast and crew of Beowulf (and the Bard). The production was fantastic and every student involved was instrumental in the show’s success.

School is not in session next Wednesday, Nov 24-Friday, Nov. 26. Due to the break, there will not be an issue of the Regal Weekly next week, but it will resume on Friday, Dec. 3.

This Thanksgiving we are grateful for the opportunity to educate your children in both faith and academics, and thank you for entrusting your children to us.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Joy M. Kelly, Ed.S.

Head of School

Gospel at a Glance

Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe.

Thirty-fourth and Final Sunday in Ordinary Time

In The Gospel for Sunday, November 21, Pilate asks Jesus “Are you the King of the Jews’?” Jesus answered,My kingdom does not belong to this world.” He lived in the world but is not of this world. In a way, this is our challenge. We are called to live the Gospel values, especially when they conflict with contemporary society. Education prepares us to live in the world; our faith teaches us how to be signs of the Kingdom through forgiveness, mercy, charity, and prayer.

The first Sunday of Advent is November 28. In Advent we begin again. It is a time of expectancy and longing for the coming of the Lord at the end of time and this liturgical year. As the Prophet Jeremiah says on the First Sunday “The days are coming, says the Lord, when I will fulfill the promise I made to Israel and Judah. In those days, in that time, I will raise up for David a just shoot; he will do what is right and just in the land.” This applies to each of us and to our students. Regina is educating students through faith in order to prepare them to do what is right and just in the world. How can we be a better model of doing what’s right, especially when it is difficult to do?

If you have information that you would like considered for inclusion in an upcoming Regal Weekly, please submit by each Wednesday at 3:00 pm.

Click HERE and fill out the online form with all of the details you would like to share. Any photos or attachments should be emailed to

*To make sure that you are seeing ALL the information included in this Regal Weekly, you may have to click a link at the bottom left of your email that says "Message Clipped - View Entire Message". The Regal Weekly will always end with the Looking Ahead calendar.**

Reminder that there is no school Wednesday, November 24th - Friday, November 26 for the Thanksgiving Break!

There will be no Regal Weekly next Friday during the break, so please check the Looking Ahead Calendar and the Lunch Menu for the week of Nov. 29 - Dec. 3.

We wish everyone a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

Rotary Club Dictionary Donation

Phil Shive, Regina graduate from Class of 1977, and a Rotary Club member delivered new dictionaries to all three fourth grade rooms this week. These are no ordinary dictionaries. These books have information about the states, the constitution, sign language and the longest word in English dictionary!

The Rotary Club generously gives this to 4th graders each year. We were happy to have Phil back in the building after a year off due to COVID. Phil's daughter, Meredith, is also a graduate of Regina from the Class of 2007.

Opus Honor Choir

Sixth grader Millie Fuhrmann was invited and participated in the 5th & 6th grade 2021 Opus Honor Choir yesterday at the Iowa State campus in Ames.

Over 2100 students were nominated by their directors for only 720 positions in the four choirs. Congratulations to Millie and vocal music teacher Dr. Travis Richter on this prestigious accomplishment!

Congratulations to the Cast & Crew of the Regina High School Fall Play!

Beowulf (and the Bard), directed by Matt Falduto, had 21 Regina High School students involved in four successful performances last Friday through Sunday - including a nearly sold out Friday night show! They provided many laughs throughout this comedy performance and it was great to see so many students come to see the show and support their peers!

The Annual Senior Citizens Thanksgiving Dinner returned this Thursday and was hosted by our Regina National Honor Society students, after taking a year off due to Covid.

It was wonderful to have this time of service and community back in our building.
