MESSAGE FROM
HEAD OF SCHOOL,
JOY M. KELLY, Ed.S.
|
As we prepare for the Thanksgiving break, I want to thank our students, staff and families for making Regina a truly special community. As I observe staff and student interactions, the genuine care and admiration they have for one another is evident. Our families are invested in their children’s education and in the Regina community. The celebration of Staff Appreciation Week is a prime example of how supportive our families are of the Regina staff. On behalf of the staff and administration, I want to thank Home & School and all those who contributed to a great week of festivities!
Congratulations to Director Matt Falduto and the cast and crew of Beowulf (and the Bard). The production was fantastic and every student involved was instrumental in the show’s success.
School is not in session next Wednesday, Nov 24-Friday, Nov. 26. Due to the break, there will not be an issue of the Regal Weekly next week, but it will resume on Friday, Dec. 3.
This Thanksgiving we are grateful for the opportunity to educate your children in both faith and academics, and thank you for entrusting your children to us.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Sincerely,
| |
Joy M. Kelly, Ed.S.
Head of School

Gospel at a Glance
Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe.
Thirty-fourth and Final Sunday in Ordinary Time
In The Gospel for Sunday, November 21, Pilate asks Jesus “Are you the King of the Jews’?” Jesus answered,”My kingdom does not belong to this world.” He lived in the world but is not of this world. In a way, this is our challenge. We are called to live the Gospel values, especially when they conflict with contemporary society. Education prepares us to live in the world; our faith teaches us how to be signs of the Kingdom through forgiveness, mercy, charity, and prayer.
The first Sunday of Advent is November 28. In Advent we begin again. It is a time of expectancy and longing for the coming of the Lord at the end of time and this liturgical year. As the Prophet Jeremiah says on the First Sunday “The days are coming, says the Lord, when I will fulfill the promise I made to Israel and Judah. In those days, in that time, I will raise up for David a just shoot; he will do what is right and just in the land.” This applies to each of us and to our students. Regina is educating students through faith in order to prepare them to do what is right and just in the world. How can we be a better model of doing what’s right, especially when it is difficult to do?

We wish everyone a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!
