Community Improvement Poll!

Since the first issue of Around The Place eNewsletter, we have received multiple emails from Regency Place residents offering ideas and feedback on how they can assist in improving our community. One recommendation is to do a Community Improvement Poll so residents can provide feedback on issues that are most important to them - which can be shared with the HOA Board for consideration and action.

Special HOA Board Meeting Highlights

For the convenience of our residents who are unable to attend monthly board meetings, Around The Place eNewsletter will highlight relevant discussions and actions taken at the board meeting so you are informed about what is happening in your community. The following are highlights from the July 2, 2021 Special HOA Board Meeting.

HOA Board Approves Construction of $60,000 Storage Building Next to Regency Place Community Pool

Board members unanimously approved to

proceed with the construction of a 24X20 ft. building next to the community pool to serve as a storage building to house HOA records, holiday decorations, and other HOA items that are presently being housed in various members' homes.

Board president Burt Johnson said 4 bids ranging from $59,300 to upward of $95,000 were received from various contractors. The board selected Beasley & Travis Construction, Inc., as the winning bid. Johnson said the company indicated the completion of the building may take 180 days (6 months).

The board indicated that Beasley & Travis submitted the lowest bid at $59,300 but did not provide additional details why this company was chosen.

Several residents in attendance requested a copy of the building plan to be made available to the community.

Around the Place eNewsletter volunteer team member also requested a copy of the building plan at the meeting, and via email to HOA secretary, so it can be shared with the community.

NOTE:

At the time this eNewsletter is being sent, a copy of the building plan has not been provided and is not made available on the HOA website for residents to review.

Residents Question HOA Board About Storage Building and Lack of Resident Input on the Initiative

Regency Place homeowners and residents in attendance at the Special HOA Board meeting questioned board members why a larger building which can also serve as a meeting space was not considered as part of the new addition.

Board members responded that a larger multipurpose building is not a feasible option because of setbacks, easement and the possible loss of parking spaces at the pool lot.

Residents also questioned board members why a copy of the building plan was not shared with the community or posted on the Regency Place HOA website prior to the special meeting.

During the April 17, 2021, Board vice-president Chuck Holland passed a copy of the proposed building plan to several residents at the meeting to review and indicated that the board is in the initial stages of discussion with architects and contractors - and a final copy of the building plan and more information will be shared with homeowners as they become available.

Several residents in attendance expressed concerns that the board has not sought any resident input or shared more information with the community prior to taking board action.

Board members said information has been included in the meeting notices and noted that if residents want to be more involved, they should regularly attend board meetings.
