Alternative Options to Resource and Study Halls

Students who have resource or study hall on their schedules periods 1, 4, 6 and 8 can opt for a late arrival, extended lunch, or early release instead by filling out this form and returning it to your SLC office.

Students who would like to be a teaching, office, or library assistant instead of having a resource or study hall can fill out this form and return it to the Highland Office.

September Lunch Menu

Here is the September lunch menu. Remember that all students can receive free lunch this year. Each day students will have a choice of one hot or cold grab n go meal along with milk and extra fruit and vegetables.

Chromebook Reminder & Chromebook Help

Reminder that all students should plan on bringing their Chromebooks home daily.

Chromebook Help is available in the library for these situations:

your current Chromebook or charger is damaged/lost/not working
if you need a Chromebook issued because you are

new to MMSD or
have not yet received your Freshman device

Transportation/Bus Pass Update

Due to some supplier issues, Metro Transit does not have the district-funded bus passes ready to distribute. For this reason, Metro is extending the typical one-week “free” period, and students will be able to ride free until we have adequate supply of bus passes. We will share more information as we have it, and students will receive a form to fill out to request a bus pass once we know when they will be available. For those needing to purchase a pass, you can do so through the Metro Transit website.

Metro bus routes and Fitchburg Badger Bus routes have been finalized and can be found on our Transportation webpage.

What happens if my child is quarantined?

Here is MMSD’s COVID Stay Home Decision Tree to help you make decisions as to when your child should stay home from school.

When is your child absent?

In order to be marked present for school, the child must be in the building. Unlike the past 18 months, contact with the teacher is not considered proof of attendance. When your child is absent for any reason, that day's lessons will be posted on the teacher's google classroom. Further, all West teachers will have their zoom links on so that the absent student can hear the class. The teacher will not be teaching concurrently -- the zoom is on as a courtesy for the absent child. We assume that all students who access this video will be absent and they will be marked so (to eliminate any confusion about the issue of being present in the building to be marked present, change from last year).

To summarize, the assignment and information will be on Google classroom, and the absent student may listen to the class if they desire. They are, of course, assumed absent if they do so.
