This is a busy week at school.  We have the ACT test today (Juniors only attend on Tuesday, March 8th) and our Spring Parent/Teacher conferences on Thursday evening, March 10th and all day on Friday, March 11th.  As has been our custom over the last few years, these Spring Conferences focus on supporting our students who are struggling the most.  If you did not get a chance to see your child’s teacher during conferences, please reach out directly to your child’s teacher.
 
As we slowly transition to thinking of our response to COVID as a pandemic and transition to endemic (as we address our response to the ‘flu, for example), we are slowly returning to a new version of normal at West.  For example, we held our Soul Food Luncheon on Friday, February 25th.  We also expanded our celebration to include a Black History Spirit Week.  You can read more about these efforts here in a great article from Madison.com.  We want to thank our Black Student Union members, BSU Executive Team, and Ms. Alicia Grant, West’s Multicultural Services Coordinator, for their leadership.

School Social Work Week
This week is National School Social Work Week! The theme for this year is “Time to Shine” because our social workers shine brightly for their students, families, and school communities. We appreciate our West social workers SO MUCH - thank you Ms. Bertrand and Ms. Weinstein!
Library News
Library Returns
The library is about to relocate temporarily into a smaller space because of West's renovation work! To help us with our upcoming move, please return anything you are no longer using as soon as possible.
 
Free Books and Posters
Free used books and art prints/posters in the library! The library is giving away some of our outdated/damaged/extra copies of materials that we don't need anymore.

Parent/Teacher Conferences
During the evening of Thursday, March 10 from 4:30-8:30 pm and during the day of Friday, March 11, from 8:00-4:00, our West teachers will be engaging in family conferences.   For the Spring Conferences, we have asked our teachers to reach out to arrange conferences with students and their families that have been experiencing academic and/or social difficulties.  

If you have questions or concerns in regards to your child and/or think a conference may be needed, reach out to your child’s teachers or be on the look out for a link to sign up in Power PTC that will be shared with all West families on Wednesday, March 9.

Families needing translation should call the BRS office at (608) 204-4990 for help with scheduling.
All-Position Career Fair
