NESAR Pre-Conference
On April 26, NESAR sponsored a 4-hour pre-conference with 2 different tracks at UMASS Amherst. Sharon Wilsie presented on Horse Speak and Sarah Bronson and Karen Kersting presented Survive & Thrive. The pre-conference was well attended and those in attendance learned valuable information to take back to their work in EAAT.

The horse show division EWD (Equestrians With Disabilities) was introduced by AQHA (The American Quarter Horse Association) in the Southwest more than 10 years ago as an opportunity for individuals with physical or cognitive disabilities to showcase their riding talent in a recognized show venue.

Since its inception, EWD has become an AQHA/NSBA recognized division whose classes have been added to the show bills of recognized horse shows across the United States. This year, or the first time, a slate of EWD classes is offered at the AQHA Region Six Horse Show from July 16-21 in Springfield, Massachusetts. Showmanship, Hunter Under Saddle, and Western Pleasure are on the schedule for 2019. Supported Western Pleasure (with sidewalkers) is offered as well. All ridden classes are Walk/Trot, and any breed horse or pony may be used. This is a fantastic opportunity for disabled riders to compete in a large show venue among their peers. Please call or email Liz Smith with any questions, and for guidance. 860-983-9625
