YOUNG WOMEN IN HARMONY PROGRAM
Attention teachers, anyone who works in a school or university, parents of young women, those who work with youth in any capacity!
We need your help extending Region 16's reach within our geography!
We are compiling a database of Region 16 members who can assist in getting the word out about the Region 16 YWIH program and events. Please help us...It's easy and a negligible time commitment. When we have Region 16 YWIH events, we will ask you to share the information/flyer with your contacts. Please be a part of Region 16's effort to spread the barbershop word to our legacy in this small way.
Please email Julie Sykes, our new Region 16 Young Women in Harmony Coordinator, at [email protected] with your willingness to forward a flyer and/or provide some contacts.
Thank you in advance for your support of Youth Barbershop!

As I write this note, Greater Kingston Chorus is on a short hiatus for 3 weeks, enjoying a summer break before reconvening in mid July to continue preparations for Las Vegas!
In May, after the excitement of contest had settled down, like most choruses we held our installation of new officers and Management Team, always a unique ceremony for us, and the following week we recognized Sweet Adeline Longevity awards, beginning with welcoming our newest members, and then presenting incremental 5 year pins right up to our 40 year members. I am very proud to say that both Nancy Watson and myself were recipients of the latter honour!!! PersonallyI I find it hard to believe that we've been in this organization for that long, (where does the time go??) but it just proves that when you are doing something fulfilling that you love, time never drags... there are always new and exciting challenges around the corner!
At the end of May we held a MAMMOTH, very successful garage sale of donated treasures from members and friends who had been saving up items for us, the proceeds of which went straight into our Las Vegas Piggy bank! In fact, we had so many members helping with set-up the night before the sale, that when passers-by saw our parked cars, they stopped and bought many items right on the spot!
Then at the end of June we held our annual pot luck dinner at the home of member Denise Kingsbury, with lots of really great food, good singing and fun!
And finally, my last bit of news to share is announcing GKC's summer show, Sound Sensations! We are presenting both a matinee and evening performance on Saturday August 12th at 2 pm and 7:30 pm at the Salvation Army Citadel in Kingston, and both shows will feature different guest artists (see attached poster for more information) as well as our own beloved quartet 'Walkin' On Sunshine' performing at both shows. We welcome the opportunity to showcase our new material, and see it is a wonderful warm-up for International competition in Las Vegas in October!
We hope to see many of you there!

Limestone City Voices chorus takes a few weeks off during the summer. We stay involved and connected with social media and Sweet Adeline publications, such as this '16th Notes'!
After our fabulous contest in Syracuse, the chorus got together for an evening of fun and celebration. We enjoyed watching and studying our contest set. We also shared what we loved about contest weekend and discussed what we as singers can improve over the next year.
At the end of May, we had our Installation of Board of Directors. Our thanks went out to our hard working team of Diane Nadon, Evie Hazzard, Judi Kleffman, Kim Hoy, Sue Babcock, Sue Molleson, Pierre Adam, & directors Kristin Stevens & Vanessa Patterson. Evie Hazzard was named as our Sweet Adeline of the Year.
Our wonderful directors have put together an amazing full year plan! Music has been sorted, new songs selected, and our batteries recharged. We're all looking forward to another exciting, challenging, music-filled year.

The Circle of Harmony is flying high these days, grabbing a wild card spot at International in October 2018. We celebrated in proper style with a cake and champagne! The roller coaster ride has just begun, and what a ride it will be!
Not to rest easy now that the summer months are upon us, we gave a performance on behalf of Chartwell Waterford Retirement Residence on Sunday, June 25. It was quite the day, with Mother Nature alternating storm clouds, hail stones and sunshine!

Save the Dates for these two awesome North Metro Events!
On the evening of Friday, February 16th, 2018,
North
Metro Chorus will host its first A Cappella Challenge for Youth under 30. It will be open to coed. youth choral groups, not soloists or groups who are already fully members of Sweet Adelines. We are inviting you to save the date to join us. The A Cappella Challenge will take place at the Richmond Hill Centre for Performing Arts.
This initiative is part of our outreach to inspire youth in the craft of a cappella music and expose the local music education
community to our chorus and our amazing organization. For those of you who watch The Sing Off, the Voice, America's Got Talent, or more local events such as Show Choir Canada, it is clear that our youth possess phenomenal talent. This is another avenue for them to share that talent and develop a relationship with our organization.
