Sweet Adelines Lake Ontario Region 16 Newsletter
April 2018
This is such an exciting time of year!
In a few short days, we'll all be together in Syracuse!  It's always a great opportunity to create new friendships and to reconnect with those we see only a few times a year.  It's pretty awesome to share the love of harmony and song with each other, isn't it?

Whether you're a quartet taking the stage for the first time, or the 10th time... a seasoned chorus member or a "first timer", our wish for you is that you have the best experience ever on the stage next weekend. As you look out into the audience, always remember that we are cheering you on and are waiting with excited anticipation for the lovely musical journey you are going to take us on with you.

We've been communicating digitally with each other over the past couple of years and I'm looking forward to saying hello in person when the opportunity arises, even if it's just with a wink and a smile ;)

Please keep in mind to submit a short article to the Sixteenth Notes following contest so you can share some of your favourite memories with the entire region!  The deadline for the May issue is May 13th.

From the Regional Leadership to you, enjoy every single moment of the upcoming weekend.  We really do belong to an amazing and inspiring organization that has brought incredible people and experiences into our lives.

Sing your hearts out, breathe,  smile and shine!  We will see all of you in Syracuse!

In Harmony,

Sue Heighway

Circle of Harmony

Here is our front row still standing AFTER an amazing three-hour coaching session with the extraordinary Erin Howden on the first leg of our retreat weekend!

We had her all to ourselves and took our up-tune to another level of excellence! We are very lucky to be able to hold our special coaching sessions with Erin in a mirrored dance studio at the facility, Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre where our chorus rehearses each week!

The Circle of Harmony wishes all our Sisters in Harmony a wonderful time at contest!

Kawartha Music Company

Kawartha Music Company is proud to announce our new Director, Cynthia Bennett Awe.

C ynthia has been a lead with KMC for over five years.  She is a very passionate barbershopper and we are delighted that she has accepted the position.

Thank you to Viktoria Light and her Director search team for a job well done.

Northumberland Chorus
Northumberland Chorus
Northumberland Chorus had a full day coaching session with Martha DeClerg in January.   We learned a lot and have been working on the skills that she taught us.   In March, Martha was back again to give each member of the chorus a PVI.    I know we all felt these sessions were invaluable and we shared what we learned with each other.

We are happy to have two new members join our chorus, Brenda Whitehead and Yolanda Melburn.   They are very enthusiastic and are a great addition to our Bass and Baritone Sections, respectively.

Jackie Brimblecombe & Heather Massicotte have been a part of our chorus since November. They have quickly become valued members with their sense of humour, eagerness and willingness to learn

On April 2 we held our annual Installation Dinner, which was a pot-luck.   The new Board (Laurie, Laura, Nancy, Michele and Cheryl (absent Thalia)) was introduced after a great meal and we had a lot of fun socializing and singing.

Our chorus is not competing this year but several of us are going to Syracuse to cheer on our favorite choruses and quartets, as well as have a lot of fun.
