Each month we will highlight some of the collective accomplishments keeping Region 19 at the forefront of education.

In this special 2019 recap edition, take a look back at the work we have done to provide core guidance and support to all districts and remain an engaged partner in the educational communities of El Paso and Hudspeth Counties.

2019 Head Start Holiday Show
Over 4,000 Head Start students experienced holiday magic at the annual program
hosted by ESC Region 19, Head Start and The Rotary Club of El Paso
at the El Paso Coliseum December 18, 2019.
Books are Gems and the employees of Wal-Mart West-side location, came together to provide children stockings filled with gifts, goodies and a book to encourage literacy.

The annual show has various educational components which are re-emphasized before, during and after the event through various activities.
This year’s holiday program brought to life “Santa's Magical Journey Around the World” a Christmas play, produced and performed by Head Start employees for Head Start children. 
Conference Highlights
Mental Health in Schools
October 17-18, 2019
The 3rd Annual Mental Health in Schools Regional Conference provided educators, school administrators and school personnel with the most current information on some of the more common mental health conditions.

The conference also provided participants with strategies, resources, and tools that will improve their effectiveness in working with students who may be dealing with mental health conditions. 
Universal Design for Learning
November 4-5, 2019
This conference was designed to help create a welcoming, responsive, student-centered classroom that cultivates expert learners. This year the featured national presenters who focused on UDL as it pertains to:
  • Implementation and next steps
  • Administration/Leadership 
  • Cultural Responsiveness
December 5-6, 2019
The Together for Autism Conference is celebrating 16 years in El Paso! This conference provided families, educators, and the community with strategies, resources, tools and evidence-based practices in the education of students with Autism Spectrum Disorders. 

The conference featured five keynote speakers and a special presentation, eighteen breakout sessions and presentations from many accomplished and inspiring individuals with ASD.

This year’s ESC Region 19 PBIS Conference will provide learning opportunities for local schools to start or advance their PBIS framework. 

The conference will host four dynamic keynote presenters and local/national trainers who will inspire and motivate your school team in nourishing the PBIS framework.

Teacher Certification Externship
ESC Region 19 and Socorro ISD are looking to build partnerships with different local businesses and organizations to participate in a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Educator Externship Program.
 
The Externship Program’s goal is to provide an opportunity for local educators to explore different professions that fall under the realm of the course(s) they are teaching aimed at strengthening lessons in the CTE classroom.
