Dear Deacon Colleagues,

I want to invite you to attend the Region 7 and 8 Deacon Summit to be held at the Gettysburg campus of United Lutheran seminary, September 26-28. This will be an opportunity to meet with other Ministers of Word and Service to strengthen community, deepen our grounding in Koinia, and think together about living out the church’s call to service. Registration is only $75 (including housing) and there is travel assistance. If you still have financial need to attend, please let me know and we will see what we can do. If you can’t attend the whole event, you are welcome for whatever time you have.

In addition, I am working on a local gathering of ELCA deacons, to talk about building a stronger sense of connection with ourselves, and with our ministry partners. This would be an opportunity to talk together about Word and Service Ministry, what the ordination of deacons means, and how in our roles, both individually and together we can lift up being a church of Word and Sacrament and Service. If you are interested in doing some thinking and planning with me around that, please let me know.
