From Your Region Rep to the Most Awesome Region Ever
I have had the privilege of working with the most awesome region ever! This was the same group of people that were there to educate me at LSTEN/NARHA (then later PATH) Conferences, to nurtured me, "reached out" over 28 years ago to help me become an individual member, then start my center and become a Registered Instructor. Then I had the opportunity to serve for many years as the Arkansas State Chair and member of the LSTEN BOARD. For the last 4 years I have served as the Region 8 Representative and as such, to serve on the Membership Outreach Committee. I have served with and met so many wonderful people along my way. I have learned so much from so many and I thank each of you for this great privilege that I have had these many years. I am a stronger and better person because of each of you. I look forward to continue to be involved with PATH International and all of you wonderful people.

It is with great pleasure and excitement that I look forward to turning over the reins to Shannon Middleton as your new Region 8 Representative on January 1st. She has all the talent and commitment to lead our region into even greater growth and success.

See you all along the trail in the future!

Malinda Smith,
Outgoing PATH Intl. Region 8 Representative
Getting to Know Our New Region 8 Representative!
Hi! My name is Shannon Middleton, and it is an honor to be your PATH Intl. Region 8 Representative! I've had the privilege to meet some of you at our region conferences, and I'm excited to get to know and serve many more of you over the next couple of years.

To let you know a little about me ... my husband, Gary, and I have been married for 23 years, have two almost-grown children, and call Round Rock, Texas, home. I've been a Speech Language Pathologist for almost 25 years and was introduced to Therapeutic Horsemanship in 1995. A few years later when our daughter was born very prematurely and diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy; it was one of three interventions I knew we had to explore for her. As a parent, I am still amazed at the blessings horses continue to give her including assistance to walk independently, a wonderful group of barn friends, and opportunities to compete in a sport.

My horse-loving, barn mom status morphed into volunteering, and then my career took a path I never anticipated. I have now been a PATH Intl. Registered Instructor for 10 years and am also a PATH Intl. ESMHL, PATH Intl. Mentor, HPCS and LSTEN Board Member. I currently work at an outpatient PT, OT and Speech Therapy clinic 2 days a week and at ROCK, Ride On Center for Kids in Georgetown, Texas, 3 days a week where I also serve as the Safety and Education Director. Besides my work, I enjoy horseback riding, traveling, crossword puzzles, being outdoors and the smell of horses!

I look forward to getting to meet and serve each of you. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!
