Fall Quarterly News Update

Fall Greetings, Region I Members!

We should all be in the swing of things by now, so I hope the fall hasn’t involved any surprises! I have heard of a few construction projects that have caused some extra headaches, but I guess that is the price of progress. Hang in there!

I want to make you are aware of one of the Region I Strategic Plan Goals. Under the Advocacy & Awareness focus area, we have a goal to “Increase the number of representatives and senators from our region that are on their respective CTE caucus.” It is important that we continue to keep career and technical education (CTE) on the front burner and in the mind of our policy makers. The policy committee stands ready to help you as members of your state to reach out and inform your law makers. More specific action items will be coming in future notices, but if you are eager find out how to reach out to your legislators, please let me know, and we can help you!

In the meantime, I want to encourage all of you to look at the CTE Caucus page on the ACTE website. On this page, you can see which, if any, of your representatives or senators are members of the CTE Caucus. The CTE Caucus is a bi-partisan caucus that strives to advance initiatives that enhance CTE. If you have a few more minutes, I would encourage you to click the “advocacy” button on the ACTE homepage and explore the Advocacy Resources at the bottom of that page. There is great information that can help you work more effectively with policymakers.

I am getting excited about the upcoming CareerTech VISION Conference in Phoenix, Arizona, Nov. 29–Dec. 2. It is always such a great event. If you have not registered, I want you to really consider it. There is no event that brings together more CTE educators. When you see what is happening from across the country, it is easy to get inspired and develop a vision that can propel your programs to the next level. If you are able to attend, I hope you will take the time to attend the ACTE Region I Business meeting. This meeting is open to all Region I members. The Business Meeting will be on Wednesday, Nov. 29 from 3:15–4:15 p.m. Please plan to attend and help us grow Region I!

In addition to VISION, one of the events you are going to want to keep your eyes on is the 2024 Region I Conference. We are excited that the conference will be held in New York City, May 1–3. Be on the lookout for more information. The planning committee has been making great progress.

Below are a few more reminders and notices for you to consider.

I truly hope you see the value you are adding to the lives of the students in your programs!

I hope to see you at VISION. If you see me, please stop and say hello!
