Quarterly News Update

Hello, Region I members,

I hope you all had a great summer and were able to get energized to start another school year. I am pleased to start this year as the new Region I VP. I look forward to representing Region I and helping to guide our region as we grow and accomplish the goals identified in our strategic plan. I want to thank Carrie Scheiderer for her service to Region I as the past VP. She did a great job! I also want to thank her for helping me transition to this role. I know she will do a great job as ACTE President-elect.

The Region I Policy Committee recently approved a new strategic plan. There are a couple of goals that I would like to highlight. Under our focus area of Professional & Leadership Development, we have a goal to have every state in Region I represented on our policy committee. Currently, there are no members from Connecticut, Delaware or Rhode Island. If you are from one of those states and have interest in serving on the policy committee, please let me know, and we can discuss applying for a position.

Another of our goals is to have a strong candidate pool to represent Region I in the ACTE National Leadership Fellows programs. The deadline is close but if you have any interest in increasing your engagement with ACTE, I would highly recommend exploring this great opportunity. See the information below about the fellowship and other opportunities to expand your leadership.

There are many other goals associated with our strategic plan. If you are able to attend ACTE’s CareerTech VISION conference in Phoenix, Nov. 29–Dec. 2, I would encourage you to attend the ACTE Region I Business meeting. This meeting is open to all Region I members. The Business Meeting will be on Wednesday, Nov. 29 from 3:15–4:15 p.m. Please plan to attend. Help us grow Region I with greater member value and engagement.

I also want to remind you that ACTE has many professional development opportunities and resources for its members. I encourage you to review the ACTE website at acteonline.org. I know you will find professional development options that will benefit you and your staff. If you take 15 minutes a week to explore the site, you will find beneficial information that you never knew was there. As we start the new school year, one resource I would encourage you to review is the new Teach CTE Teacher Recruitment Toolkit. See the link below to get more information.

One of the events you are going to want to keep your eyes on is the 2024 Region I Conference. We are excited to share that the conference will be held in New York City, May 1-3, 2024. Planning has already begun and more information will be coming soon.

I hope you all have a great start to your school year!
