Fall Quarterly News Update

Greetings Region II Members!

As the crisp autumn air settles in, we're reminded of the season's simple joys - the vibrant colors of falling leaves, the excitement of football games, and the comfort of warm beverages on cool evenings. However, this fall has also brought challenges to our Region II family, particularly in the areas affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Our thoughts are with those impacted by these devastating storms, and we stand ready to support our colleagues and communities as they recover and rebuild.

In brighter news, we're eagerly anticipating ACTE's CareerTech VISION conference in San Antonio, Texas this Dec. 4–7. This annual gathering promises to be an invaluable opportunity for professional development, networking, and sharing innovative ideas in career and technical education (CTE). I encourage all of you to consider attending and taking advantage of the wealth of knowledge and inspiration that awaits us there.

On a celebratory note, I'd like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to our 2024 Region II award winners. Your dedication to excellence in CTE and your impact on students' lives is truly commendable. You represent the best of our profession, and we're proud to have you as part of our Region II family. As we navigate the challenges and opportunities of this new academic year, let's draw inspiration from these outstanding educators and continue to elevate the quality of CTE across our region.

These winners will represent Region II at the Dec. 4th ACTE Awards Gala in San Antonio in December:

  • Administrator of the Year, Rhonda Samples (GA)
  • Carl Perkins Community Service Award, Shannon Roberts (KY)
  • Counseling and Career Development Professional, Shelley Kaler (AL)
  • Lifetime Achievement Award, Cynthia L. Greene (GA)
  • New Teacher of the Year, Stephen Bergey (GA)
  • Postsecondary Professional of the Year, Dr. Cheronie Blunt (GA)
  • Teacher Educator of the Year, Dr. Roger Hill (GA)
  • Teacher of the Year, Jason Van Nus (GA)

Have a wonderful fall, and please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if I can be of assistance to you.

Sincerely,

Dustin Davis-Austin

ACTE Region II Vice President
