At its March meeting, the Transportation Policy Council approved an amended resolution for the North Houston Highway Improvement Project. The resolution supports a cooperative approach between the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and local agencies during the project's next steps of planning and design as well as finding solutions that address stakeholder and community concerns and environmental impacts. In other business, policy council members approved amendments to the 2021-24 Transportation Improvement Program and the 2045 Regional Transportation Plan, and the 2021-22 Unified Planning Work Program. They also added some new members to the Transportation Safety Committee. The council filled two primary and alternate vacancies in the Law Enforcement/Fire/EMS/Emergency Management member category and one primary and alternate vacancy in the Shippers member category. The new primary members will be Lt. Cedrick Collier of the Harris County Sheriff Office, Nabile Shike at Fort Bend County Constable Precinct 4, and Bruce Mann at Port Houston. Sgt. Additionally, the council recognized the service of outgoing member Maureen Crocker, who served for 11 years on the TPC representing freight rail interests as well as with the city of Houston and the Gulf Coast Rail District.
