At Regional Assembly gathers members and friends from 44 congregations that make up the Christian Church in Oregon and SW Idaho. We are from two states, worship in three languages, worship in houses, rented spaces, buildings we own, and on fields where we hope to build buildings. We are congregations as long serving as 175 years plus and as new as 3 years old.

And we serve one God. Together we will share worship, meet church leaders, reunite with friends and make new ones hosted by Salem First Christian Church.
Regional Assembly Theme Scripture
Luke 24:13
As you reflect on our theme scripture this week, read it quietly and see which part of the story connects to you in your life at this time. What moment in the story "clicks" for you and grabs your attention?

Verse 21 "But we had hoped that he was the one to redeem Israel. Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things took place."

In this verse we hear the longing of the speakers who have had their hopes for a preferred future dashed. "We had hoped..." and "besides all of this"....key phrases in this verse. As we gather for assembly, we are a people who over the past couple of years have had to deeply rearrange the future we had anticipated due to a pandemic, volatile political environment and personal unforeseen circumstances. Somedays when another stress gets added on top of all we are already carrying, we too say, "and besides all this!!" I cannot make one more adjustment, and it is just too much!

As we gather as people of faith to 'recalculate", we are reclaiming our community of hope by seeing each other and holding onto one another as we take next steps as individuals, congregations and regional church.

As you prepare for assembly, look at the ways we will be called to let go of preferred future for the new one that awaits us. How will we meet Christ in that new future? As one of our regional saints, Rev. Lynnette Biggers, used to say, "I do not fear the future for God is already there."
COVID 19 Protocols for in person Regional Assembly
Salem FCC currently is an mask optional/mask respected space. There are sanitizing stations throughout the building. The sanctuary is big enough for extensive social distancing during sessions in that space and the balcony will be open. Song leaders are up and away from the congregation. More details about precautions will be published closer to the event with current information as a guide. The Salem FCC currently do not require vaccination or proof of negative test to enter the building. Those working with children under 5 will be masked throughout the time they are with the children. Watch for details.
Tech for the Assembly online

Yesterday the tech team at Salem FCC met with Regional Staff to talk about options for online viewing of parts of the Regional Assembly. This week will be a week to fine tune the options. What we know now is that the sessions that happen in the sanctuary can be live streamed on Facebook/YouTube as they happen and will be recorded. We are working on details and will keep you posted.
You can register now and pay later by check or on line. We just want to know you are coming. We have reduced the price by $10.00 per person from 4 years ago. We have offered a first time attender discount. Kids and Youth are invited to come to programs that are offered for free. We hope this will help more people decide to come. We will be streaming some parts of the service, for now we need to know who plans to come in person.

We just need to know that you plan to come.
Let us know and tell your friends to come with you!

If you cannot come, yet you want to help the assembly provide a gathering for the region, consider making a donation to the costs of the assembly, since this year we are reducing the cost to participants but costs to provide the assembly are higher than previous years.

We look forward to hearing from you!!
Programs and resources are provided to you by your Regional Church and the whole church ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) which are supported by Disciples Mission Fund, Annual Fund gifts, the Christmas Offering, designated gifts, and invested funds Learn more about the Christian Church in Oregon and SW Idaho HERE.
