Jorge Perez

Keynote Speaker

We are excited to share that Jorge will be our Keynote speaker and part of our leadership Panel and Workshop presenter.


Jorge Perez’s family originates from the central plains of Mexico.  He is the first in his family to be born in the United States (Texas), a former migrant worker, a first-generation college graduate, a husband, and a father of two gifted daughters.  

 

Jorge Perez is a nationally recognized YMCA leader, CEO, manager, and thought leader. He’s an accomplished strategic thinker, program innovator, fundraiser, and mission champion—a practitioner of transformational leadership.

 

Currently, Jorge serves as the President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati and has served Ys in Dallas, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Southwest Illinois, and YMCA of the USA.  National leadership includes serving on Chair of YNAN, YUSA Board, Training & Leadership Development Board, Hispanic Latino Leadership Network, Emerging Leaders Leadership Network, General Assembly planning team, and Multicultural Leadership Development Institute. His statewide efforts include the Illinois State Alliance (Vice Chair) and Afterschool Alliance (ambassador for Indiana and Ohio). Internationally, Jorge is active in the World Urban Network.

 

Jorge is a champion for kids (particularly the most vulnerable, and is deeply committed to the belief that people grow in healthy environments that foster their Achievement, Relationships, and Belonging.

 

Jorge holds two Masters Degrees in Christian Education (Dallas Theological Seminary) and Business Administration (University of Dallas).

Charlene Lyons

President/CEO

YMCA of the Treasure Coast

Charlene Lyons was born in Hawaii and raised in Twenty-Nine Palms, California and is the oldest of five daughters. 


Charlene moved to Stuart, Florida in 1997 where she was immediately hired as a part time lifeguard at the YMCA of the Treasure Coast. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Resources from Capella University. Charlene received her SHRM-CP in 2015. Charlene has held many positions at the YMCA including, Aquatics Director, Executive Director, Director of Development, Director of Human Resources, VP of Association Advancement, Chief Operations Officer and in 2020, Charlene was named President/CEO of the YMCA of the Treasure Coast as of January 1, 2021. Charlene is currently in Cohort 17 of MEDI (Multi-Cultural Executive Development Institute), The Collective. 


In her community she is active as a volunteer, Charlene has served as the Treasurer and Vice President for the Junior League of Martin County and on the board of Treasure Coast Association Fundraising Professionals. She currently serves on the Advisory Council to the Seven Circle Fires YMCA in South Dakota, the Martin Leadership Economics Day Committee, The Junior League of Martin County Advisory Committee, National Philanthropy Day Committee for AFP Treasure Coast, Communications Committee for AFP and as a Board Member for the Center for Constitutional Values. She is an avid runner and mother of two teenage daughters and lives in Martin County.


Charlene is also a founding member of NAIRN: YMCA Native American/Indigenous Resource Network.


Charlene will be part of our Leadership Panel and a Workshop Presenter.
