FREE Homebuyer Education Classes

Take the first step to owning a home and join the Home Buyers Round Table for their Home Buyer Education Workshop. This FREE Homebuyer Education workshop takes place in-person, lunch will be provided. Certificate of Completion is provided upon completion of class AND a one-on-one counseling session with Consumer Credit Counseling Services. You must attend the entire class (choose one) to sign up for a counseling session.
The workshop will cover:
- How to find the right home
- How to apply for a mortgage
- Credit improvement tips
- How much you can afford
- Barriers that can prevent you from qualifying for a mortgage and
- What down payment assistance may be available to you

The Fair Housing Center of Greater Madison is offering a free in-person fair housing training seminar for owners and managers of rental properties, or staff operating shelters or residential programs, in Madison.
The seminar will include information about the protected classes and prohibited practices delineated by local, state, and federal fair housing laws, as well as reasonable accommodations and modifications for tenants with disabilities.

Common Wealth Development is a new Director of Housing Operations to lead their team in the direction and management of over 170 units of housing on Madison’s east and west side, and supervise a housing team of 10+ housing administration and maintenance staff. The successful candidate will lead management and maintenance staff, oversee compliance and reporting, rent collection and financial management, supervision, program planning, and budgeting. This is a full-time salaried position with benefits, including a generous paid leave package and health insurance.

Tax Credit Compliance Training Course

This course will provide an overview of the tax credit program, compliance requirements, and WHEDA’s monitoring procedures. It is designed to be particularly useful to on-site managers and individuals without previous Section 42 training. We will include general resident certification procedures, forms, HOTMA and NSPIRE updates, and WHEDA’s reporting and inspection requirements. We will also cover what to expect when conducting a physical and file review.
· Tickets cost $160.44 each
· The class is limited to 50 participants, first-come first-serve.
