Survey Responses Top 9,000: A First for the Greater Madison Region
Over 9,050 people completed the A Greater Madison Vision regional planning survey during the two-month window ending on November 12. A Greater Madison Vision aimed for 10,000 completed surveys, and was pleased at the response. The volume of surveys was unprecedented in the region.
The Greater Madison Vision Steering Committee will use survey results in the first part of next year to prepare a draft vision and plan for how the region grows. They will solicit feedback from communities before approving a vision and plan for the region later in the year. The Capital Area Regional Planning Commission and Steering Committee members will work with communities to integrate and align the regional and local visions and plans.
The Madison Area Transportation Planning Board is hosting a Bicycle Friendly Community Open House at the Fitchburg Library on Monday, November 26 from 5:30-7:30pm. Attendees will learn more about the Bicycle Friendly Community Initiative and the work being done collectively in Dane County. Information boards will be available from 5:30-6:30pm for people to view and meet others from their community, with a formal presentation beginning at 6:30pm.
Clean Lakes Alliance Yahara Watershed Academy Recruitment
Clean Lakes Alliance has a goal of building an expanding network of Watershed Captains who are ready to take action to improve the health of our lakes. We are now accepting applications for the 2019 Academy and are recruiting individuals that are passionate about our lakes, excited to start a project that benefits the lakes in their community or workplace, and can commit to attending all five classes (2/12, 3/12, 4/9, 5/14, and 6/11). We're striving to assemble a socially diverse group of students with different backgrounds and perspectives that care for our lakes!
