Salt Awareness Week:

January 23-27, 2023

Next week, the Wisconsin Salt Wise Partnership will spotlight the threats that road salt poses to our rivers, lakes, and drinking water. The week's events include five webinars that will address the environmental toll of deicers, salts in our drinking water, actions the DNR is planning, and how residents can get involved. Madison-area residents can also enjoy a pint and hear from local experts at "Salt Wise on Tap," a town hall-style event with mini-presentations (including one from CARPC's Mike Rupiper) and time for conversation.

2023 Native Plants Applications

Native gardens provide needed food and habitat for pollinators and protect our waters by helping stormwater slowly soak into the ground. The Free Native Plants for School and Community Projects Program provides Dane County groups with free native plants to start or expand a native garden or rain garden. Applications are due Feb 1, and plants are distributed in May.
