THE REGION

LOCAL LAND USE IN THE CAPITAL REGION
In preparation for the Regional Development Plan update, CARPC staff reviewed and summarized the current land use goals identified in the region’s local comprehensive plans. Visit our website for an overview of the broad themes and sentiments that characterize local land use planning in the Capital Region.
WATER QUALITY
YAHARA WINS PHOSPHORUS REDUCTION GRANTS
Yahara WINS is now accepting grant applications for innovative, low-cost projects that will help reduce phosphorus in local waterways. The application deadline has been extended to May 27.
DATA & MAPPING
MAPPING INTERNALLY DRAINED AREAS TO REDUCE FLOOD RISK
Development in internally drained areas presents unique stormwater runoff and flood management challenges. To help communities identify these areas, CARPC staff created an ArcGIS Online map. The map can be used with recommendations from the 2017 Reducing Increased Risk of Flooding report to better manage runoff and reduce flood risk.
HUD LOCATION AFFORDABILITY INDEX
CARPC staff are working with HUD’s Location Affordability Index to see what implications transportation costs have on housing affordability. Our initial look indicates that considering the cost of transportation in a budget can mean the difference between affordable and unaffordable accommodations.
