Adopted: 2050 Regional Development Framework
CARPC's 2050 Regional Development Framework was officially adopted at this month's Commission meeting! Final edits are now underway, with a complete report to be released in July.
Dane County Tree Canopy Working Group
The Dane County Tree Canopy Working Group formed last year in response to a CARPC analysis that showed a marked tree canopy decline across Dane County. Spearheaded by the Office of Energy and Climate Change, the Tree Canopy Working Group aims to collectively maintain, protect, and expand public and private tree canopy across Dane County where ecologically appropriate, with a particular focus on equitable access for all residents. CARPC staff are excited to be a part of this initiative.
Opportunities for Communities
Free Native Plants Available
Dane County schools and community groups are invited to apply to the Dane County Land & Water Resources Department's Free Native Plants program. Since it began in 2016, the program has distributed more than 19,200 plants to 100 different groups, including schools, neighborhood associations and community centers. Native plantings help rainwater soak into the ground, preventing polluted stormwater runoff from reaching area lakes, rivers, and streams.
Community Heart & Soul Seed Grants
Community Heart & Soul is a resident-driven community engagement process. The CHS Seed Grant Program provides $10,000 in funding for resident-driven groups in small cities and towns to launch the Community Heart & Soul model in their community. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Grant funding requires a $10,000 match.
