REGIONAL UPDATES
NOW COMING TO A MEETING NEAR YOU
With the help of our Technical Advisory Committee members, CARPC has developed a presentation about our ongoing update of the Regional Development Framework. The presentation is designed to give local plan commissions and other committees an overview of the planning effort and progress to date. Contact Steve Steinhoff, Agency Director, for a copy of the presentation or to invite Steve to present at your upcoming meeting.
2021 COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE
We have extended the deadline for 2021 assistance project submittals to October 16. Contact Sean Higgins, Senior Community Planner, to learn more and start the conversation.

HOW DO OTHER REGIONS PLAN FOR GROWTH?
As part of our ongoing effort to develop a Regional Development Framework, CARPC staff reviewed long-range plans from 15 regions across the US. We share a summary of the similarities between plans, how they are implemented, and implications for the Greater Madison region on our website.
WATER QUALITY
STARKWEATHER CREEK WINTER VOLUNTEER MONITORING
CARPC is looking for volunteers to collect water samples in the Starkweather Creek watershed from October 2020 to March 2021. This sampling effort is part of a larger project to create a Chloride Management Plan for the watershed. Learn more and register at carpcwaterqualityplan.org.
SALT CERTIFICATION TRAININGS
The next virtual workshop in the City of Madison's Online Winter Salt Certification Training series is scheduled for October 2. Learn about simple practices that can save you time and money and protect our freshwater resources. All trainings are free, open to all communities and businesses, and meet the requirement for the City of Madison Winter Salt Certification Program.
PARTNER UPDATE
DCHI 2020 HOUSING SUMMIT SESSIONS
Although the annual Dane County Housing Summit won't be taking place in person, the Dane County Housing Initiative Steering Committee will be hosting a series of virtual programs this fall. Each month's session will be available through the same Zoom link, no pre-registration required.
CENSUS UPDATE
The US Census Bureau is hard at work trying to complete the 2020 Census by September 30th. Ensure a complete count in your community by reminding people about the importance of full participation. There is still time to fill out the census online, over the phone, or by opening the door for census workers collecting in-person responses.
