Foundation Annual Appeal Seeks Support to Enhance Healthcare

In 1972, Regional West Foundation was established to support the hospital’s mission of excellence in healthcare by raising, managing, and distributing funds to enhance Regional West’s services, programs, and projects. Today, the Foundation’s success is a continuation of a long and proud tradition of community support for superior healthcare services in the communities it serves.

Annual giving to the Foundation makes it possible to address the hospital’s greatest needs and seize its most significant opportunities. Foundation donations play a critical role in the growth and development of Regional West Medical Center.

With community support in 2024, the Foundation helped fund over $75,000 in health education scholarships to students from Regional West’s service area; the purchase and installation of 60 new hospital beds, four bariatric beds, four labor and delivery beds, and 15 new bassinets; CinemaVision 2020, an entertainment system that provides pediatric patients receiving an MRI at Regional West enhanced comfort during their scans; and much more.

Projects in 2025 supported by the Foundation include a hospital-wide patient call system, three medical-grade refrigerators for the inpatient pharmacy, Community Pharmacy, and the Infusion Center; and a vehicle for the Community Paramedic program.

“Your gifts to the Foundation play a critical role in the hospital’s growth and development,” said Foundation Chair Mike Downey. “We are grateful to our generous donors who demonstrate their deep commitment to Regional West and our patients. Your gifts help ensure that advanced technology and enhanced healthcare services are available right here, close to home, when our friends and family need it the most. Together, we’re making a meaningful difference!”

“As you consider your year-end gifts, I ask that you consider making a gift to the Regional West Foundation,” concluded Downey. “Every gift, at any amount, is greatly appreciated and carefully utilized.”

The Village at Regional West Library Dedication

You are cordially invited to attend the dedication of The Village at Regional West’s John W. Beers Library at 320 East 42nd Street in Scottsbluff on Friday, Dec. 19 at 10 a.m.

John W. Beers, a resident of The Village for 23 years, has faithfully maintained the library since 2002 while greatly expanding the number of books available. He is paid a small stipend for books, and enjoys scouting book and public library sales for items he thinks residents will enjoy. Thanks to John’s efforts, library patrons also enjoy a well-stocked selection of movies, newspapers, magazines, and audio books.

A man of many talents, he delighted residents with once-monthly book reviews in earlier days and happily researched topics and historical events when asked.

Refreshments will be served. Please join us at the library dedication as we honor a special resident.

Congratulations, Family Medicine Residency Program

Big congratulations to the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) Rural Training Track Family Medicine Residency Program, together with partner Regional West Medical Center, for recognition by the Rural Medical Training Collaborative (RMTC) as a 2025 featured program with a proven track record of producing rural physicians. The annual recognition highlights medical residency programs demonstrating a strong commitment to building the rural physician workforce by having at least 35% of physicians enter rural practice as their initial placement. In the latest list, UNMC, along with residency program partners at hospitals in Scottsbluff, Grand Island, Kearney, and North Platte, averaged 75% of physicians choosing to practice in rural areas following residency, based on a rolling three-year average.

“The UNMC Family Medicine Rural Training Track Family Medicine Residency Program is one of the oldest rural programs in the nation. We are proud to be part of such an impressive legacy helping to train family physicians,” said Lindsey Mosel, MD, Regional West Physicians Clinic-Family Medicine physician and associate director for the UNMC Family Medicine Rural Training Track Family Medicine Residency Program.
