November 2025

Thank You Volunteers and Friends at Regional West

The Volunteers & Friends at Regional West invites the community to join them for their 75th anniversary open house on Monday, Nov. 17, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the medical center’s main lobby near The Gift Shop.

Since starting as the Auxiliary on Nov. 17, 1950, the Volunteers & Friends at Regional West has helped hundreds of thousands of Regional West’s patients, families, and visitors. To celebrate their milestone anniversary, volunteers will be serving complimentary food and beverages, in addition to handing out promotional items. The event will also feature displays and information about the Volunteers’ rich history, as well as booths that highlight current volunteer opportunities at Regional West.

Throughout the decades, thousands of volunteers have given their time and talents to serve Regional West and the surrounding communities. Members have sewn dish towels and drapes, delivered letters and flowers to patients, and raised money for hospital projects and scholarships for area healthcare students.

Service Excellence and Volunteer Services Director Ally Berggren said the impact of volunteers is immeasurable, noting their contributions to area healthcare that continues today.

Regional West Receives Friend of 4-H Award

Regional West was honored to receive the Friend of 4-H award at the 2025 Scotts Bluff County 4-H Achievement Program, held Oct. 19 at the UNL Panhandle Research Extension and Education Center in Scottsbluff. The award recognizes a business or person who has been a true friend in providing support to the 4-H program.

Regional West Medical Center President and CEO, Ned Resch, said he and the hospital’s leadership team wanted to support the Scotts Bluff county fair in a more inclusive way this year.

“Our goal was to recognize as many youth entries as possible, so we handed out a special "Regional West Best” ribbon and $25 to individual 4-H projects. We are proud to be a part of such a long-standing county fair tradition, and thank the 4-H community for this award.”

Regional West Medical Center Achieves Gold Recognition Status

In recognition of our commitment to educate employees and the community about the importance of organ, eye, and tissue donation while encouraging donor registration, Regional West Medical Center has achieved Gold recognition status in the 2025 national DoNation campaign.

The national initiative, sponsored by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health
and Human Services, challenges workplaces, including hospitals, to create donation-friendly workplace communities that educate and engage employees and the community about the crucial need for organ donation, and gives them opportunities to sign up as organ, eye, and tissue donors.
