How accurate are PSRC's regional population and job forecasts, anyway?
 
PSRC released the region's first 2050 forecast for population and jobs last month: 1.8 million more people and 1.2 million more jobs are coming to the region. People often ask how close the forecasts come to what really happens. Our data team recently looked back about 30 years and compared forecasts to actual growth. It turns out that the regional forecasts have been very close to the mark. You can read more details on forecast accuracy here.


Next steps on regional aviation baseline study
 
The Federal Aviation Administration has requested that PSRC lead a new regional aviation baseline study that would build on the master planning work underway at many of the region's airports and set a regional stage for future planning. The study would look at the region's growing aviation activity and the unique role of the regional aviation system in supporting the region as a global center for aerospace manufacturing. The study would also include a look at the economic impact of the region's airports and the impact of airport activities on surrounding communities.
PSRC receives sixth consecutive clean audit
 
PSRC has received a clean audit result from the Washington State Auditor with no findings, the sixth one in a row. In the last 18 years, PSRC has had just one finding. Special thanks go to Pierce County Executive Bruce Dammeier, Operations Committee Chair, and our Chief Operating Officer Diana Lauderbach and her team for a job well done.

Reminder:  VISION 2050 scoping underway

We had a great turnout at our first VISION 2050 listening session at Union Station last week. There are three more sessions happening this month: 
  • February 20, 3-5 pm at the Fife Community Center, 2111 54th Avenue East, Fife 
  • February 22, 3-5 pm at Lynnwood City Hall, 19100 44th Avenue West, Lynnwood 
  • February 27, 3-5 pm at the Norm Dicks Government Center, 345 6th Street, Bremerton
