DOWNTOWN LUNCH TRAFFIC GETS BOOST
WITH LUNCHTIME LIVE EVENTS
Lunchtime Live, Downtown St. Louis’ premier weekly outdoor lunchtime gathering, will kick off next Wednesday, Sept. 15 at Old Post Office Plaza. The weekly event offers dining, entertainment and networking opportunities for residents, workers and visitors in Downtown St. Louis, adding vibrancy and foot traffic to the neighborhood every week. “Increasing activation of parks and open spaces Downtown through music and events like Lunchtime Live is exactly what was called for in the Design Downtown STL plan,” said Sarah Arnosky, vice president, Greater St. Louis, Inc., which helped sponsor Lunchtime Live through its CentralCitySTL initiative. CROWDSOURCED PHOTOS CELEBRATE ST. LOUIS - AND BEAUTIFY DOWNTOWN
A $100 million redevelopment will soon update the Jefferson Arms for a new generation, but until then, civic officials have beautified the historic building in Downtown St. Louis with photos of St. Louis landmarks. Crowdsourced from social media, the large images — each measures 4 feet by 6 feet — offer beautiful views of the city. View the submissions and winning selections.
NEW CIC COHORT SUPPORTS SOCIAL IMPACT INNOVATION
While most incubators focus on for-profit businesses, the new Social Impact Cohort St. Louis will elevate early-stage, mission-driven companies, both nonprofit and for-profit alike. Operated by CIC St. Louis in the Cortex Innovation District, the Cohort hopes to drive positive regional change as well as innovation, a key factor in growing the St. Louis region. Learn more.
ST. LOUIS RANKS #6 MOST PET-FRIENDLY IN THE COUNTRY
For Fido and Fluffy, St. Louis continues to be a great place to live. WalletHub once again named the area among the top 10 “Most Pet-Friendly Cities” in the country, pushing St. Louis forward two spots from 2019 rankings to come in at #6. The rankings explored factors like pet budget, pet health and wellness, and pet friendliness. Welcome to the U.S.A.-You're Hired!: A Guide for Foreign-Born People Seeking Jobs offers case studies and expert contributions to help make the job search process smoother. The St. Louis Mosaic Project is a program of the World Trade Center-St. Louis within the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership.
CHANGING THE TUNE OF THE ST. LOUIS MUSIC ECONOMY
Today, St. Louis is a must-stop for major concert tours of any genre, but for some local artists, musicians, venues and production workers, disparities and exclusionary efforts have left them behind, preventing shared success and growth. The Regional Arts Commission aims to address these disparities and ensure that the future of the St. Louis music economy is not only sustainable, but inclusive. MIDAS HOSPITALITY CELEBRATES 15 YEARS, PLANS DOWNTOWN INVESTMENTS
Maryland Heights-headquartered Midas Hospitality, this year celebrating its 15th anniversary, is currently investing more than $400 million in the metro. Most recently, the company introduced its first owned and operated bar, UPBAR, at its Element St. Louis Midtown, across from the newly opened City Foundry.
