The Future of Work - Post Pandemic
The U.S. economy has been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic spurring conversations on what the road to recovery may look like and what it will require of government at all levels. During this year's Virtual Annual Meeting, the Westrends Board invited several presenters to share their insights and suggestions on what we need to learn from this experience and how to apply it to a successful recovery for all. U.S. Supreme Court Update
The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted and upended many facets of life as we knew it. Beyond budgets and policy initiatives, its impact has also been felt in the judicial process. Most recently, the U.S. Supreme Court halted a federal district court order from going into effect that would have required the state of Oregon to include a ballot initiative with only 50 percent of the signatures required by the state's constitution. The change was initially implemented in response to the pandemic and its impact on petitioners to acquire the traditional number of signatures required for ballot initiatives. The 2020 Presidential Election Webinar
Hosted by CSG East, this webinar will host a discussion on the upcoming 2020 Presidential Election. Professor Rachel Bitecofer, who is referred to as the "election whisperer", will speak about the election, and the growing influence of negative partisanship on election outcomes. Sheilah Kast, journalist and host of WYPR radio's On the Record, will moderate the discussion throughout the session.
