Two easy ways to leak-proof your summer watering plans

Weekly Watering Number
Spring has sprung and  summer watering is just around the bend. Starting next month, you will want to check two things:
  1. Check that your sprinkler system (or outdoor spigot) is not leaking. Whether you have an underground system or are moving a hose around your yard to keep your plants hydrated, outdoor leaks can have a major impact on your water usage. Use these how-to videos to learn how to check for leaks outdoors.
  2. Sign up for the Weekly Watering Number. When you do, you will receive weekly emails with a weather forecast and the amount of water in inches that your lawn and landscape need. Sign up now, and, starting April 5th, you can take the guess-work out of watering all summer long.
Member Spotlight: Rebates to increase your water efficiency

More than half of the Consortium's 20 member organizations offer rebates for water-saving items, such as smart irrigation controllers and high efficiency toilets. Learn more about which providers are offering rebates and how, once installed, conservation devices can increase your overall water efficiency.
Do you know a junior leak detective?
Kids can play an  important role in stopping leaks at home and school by becoming junior leak detectives. Even though fixing leaky faucets, showers or toilets should be left to grown-ups, kids can help find the leaks in the first place:
  1. Check faucets or showers to see if they drip when they are off. If they do, be sure to tell an adult. A leaky faucet or shower can waste hundreds of gallons of water a month, so finding leaks and fixing them is very important.
  2. Get an adult to help you test your toilet for leaks. It will take about 10 minutes, and when fixed, could help your family save hundreds of gallons of water a month!
If you know a junior leak detective - put them on the case! Together, you can explore additional ways to use water efficiently indoors and out .
