It's time to register to attend the upcoming MTS Tech Surge:  "Production of Renewable Ocean Energy for Small, Non Grid Connected Applications" taking place November 2-3 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. This event, sponsored by Teledyne Marine and OGI, will begin on Wednesday Nov. 2 with a stop to see the Living Bridge that UNH is in the process of instrumenting. After that all will head to a local watering hole, Martingale Wharf (99 Bow Str. Portsmouth, NH) to hear three technical papers about ocean energy devices in action combined with a Welcome Reception sponsored by Dialytics, Falmouth Scientific (FSI) and Teledyne/OGI. "The Portsmouth waterfront is really dynamic and it is a fitting backdrop for the kick off to the first MTS Marine Renewable Energy Tech Surge," said Maggie Merrill, MTS MRE Committee Chair. 

 The two day program on Renewable Ocean Energy will feature 16 technical presentations on topics related to Wave Energy and Tidal Energy devices. There will be a User Panel with experts from SPAWAR, The National Buoy Data Center and the Island Institute. Exhibitors will include MacArtney, Teledyne Marine, OGI, FSI, ORCINA/JTEC and others.

This event was the brain child of the folks on the Marine Renewable Energy Committee in collaboration with the Marine Renewable Energy Collaborative. They recognized the need and the opportunity to bring technologists together to focus on small non-grid connected applications of ocean energy. There are many applications for this sort of power be it on islands that are supplementing expensive diesel power, in offshore arrays for oceanographic operations or for military operations in remote water side locations.
