Victim Assistance Response to Mass Violence Webinar Series: The First 48 Hours and 48 Hours and Beyond

Please join us on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, and Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 2‒3:30 p.m. ET, for the first two installments of the Office for Victims of Crime Training and Technical Assistance Center's (OVC TTAC) Victim Assistance Response to Mass Violence Webinar Series: The First 48 Hours and 48 Hours and Beyond, which will highlight the importance of victim service providers responding to incidents of mass violence and terrorism. Please join us for the following sessions.


Webinar 1: The First 48 Hours

The first session focuses on:

  • The steps to implementing a response,
  • Communication strategies during a response,
  • Considerations for setting up a family assistance center,
  • Challenges with victim identification and death notification, and
  • The key elements of volunteer and donation management.

Webinar 2: 48 Hours and Beyond

2–3:30 p.m. ET on September 30, 2025

Facilitated by: Leslie Davila and Krista Flannigan

 

The second session builds on the concepts discussed in "Victim Assistance Response to Mass Violence: The First 48 Hours," and provides an overview of:

  • The transition from short- to long-term assistance,
  • Strategies for implementing productive outreach,
  • Understanding immediate, transitional, and long-term needs of survivors, and
  • Approaches to honoring victims and survivors.

OVC's Training and Technical Assistance Center (OVC TTAC) provides training to support professional development, enhance services to the community, and expand outreach to victims of crime.
