REGISTER NOW FOR THE PENNSYLVANIA AUDUBON COUNCIL

2024 FALL CHAPTER GATHERINGS!

It is time for chapter leaders to register for one or more of the three upcoming Pennsylvania Audubon Council regional one-day gatherings scheduled for this fall. The gatherings are scheduled for the Eastern, Central, and Western part of the state to make it more convenient for chapters to send a delegation of their leaders to the locations that work best. The schedule is as follows:

Saturday, October 5, 2024, Beechwood Farm Nature Park, Pittsburgh Saturday, October 19, 2024, Fort Hunter, Harrisburg

Saturday, November 2, 2024, Muhlenberg College, Allentown

We encourage and welcome multiple participants from each chapter! Consider having three, four or more representatives register and participate. Based on the survey responses received from chapter leaders, it will be helpful to have representatives with a role with education and outreach, conservation and advocacy, and native plants/bird habitat recognition in addition to key officers from your chapter. The emphasis for these gatherings is an agenda that offers broad opportunities for interaction and discussion.

The gatherings will also provide time for chapter leaders to do a “deep dive” to share concerns and ideas that address the challenges that face our chapters, with most being “all volunteer” organizations. The survey responses identified key items to focus our discussion: recruitment of new members, attracting more diversity and youth to our chapter meetings and leadership. The recruitment of new board members, officers and committee volunteers was cited as another key challenge.

Each gathering will feature time set aside for “chapter sharing” centered around each chapter’s “signature” or special events or projects that are a point of pride. Several survey respondents made a pointed request for ere will time set aside for folks to simply meet and interact. Others noted that these gatherings offered will offer a welcome opportunity for chapters to simply get together.

We encourage broad participation! There is no registration fee. Snacks and lunch will be provided. More information about the agenda and program is included in the registration link below that has been provided through the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania. Register now – and recruit others from your chapter to join you. We learned that some folks plan to register and participate in more than one gathering. Anyone is welcome to do the same. In addition, because of busy fall schedules, some individuals from a chapter might attend one gathering while others from the same chapter may choose a different gathering. All options are OK to pursue. Note that more details, agendas, and other pertinent information will be sent to registrants in advance of each gathering. Send any additional questions to paauduboncouncil@gmail.com.
