Work from a live nude figure model amongst fellow creatives to practice and sharpen your life drawing or painting skills. Sessions will include a variety of short to long poses. BEGINNER DRAWING

Learn the foundational techniques of taking what you see and representing it on the page using graphite. MILK PAINTED BIRDHOUSE

Colorful birdhouses would make a sweet addition to your summer décor. We'll use Milk Paint by Fusion to layer on colors, then decorate with molds, transfers and other materials. Finished project can be used indoors or outdoors. Milk paint is non-toxic, so it is safe for our feathered friends. Make three small birdhouses on pedestals or one large birdhouse. PAPER QUILLED RAINBOW ORNAMENT

Learn all the quilling techniques and shapes needed to create a 3D paper rainbow ornament. FURNITURE PAINTING 101

This is the perfect workshop if you're new to painting furniture. We'll cover all the steps, from prep to finish, as well as review the many ways to refresh and restyle your home with a pot of paint, a few basic tools, and some imagination! Each participant will paint a small wood project (usually a tray or sign, depending on availability.) Techniques covered: preparing the surface, painting without brush strokes, two-color distressing, topcoats, finishing touches. Additional $25 material fee due to instructor. Ages 16+

INTRO TO LINOCUT PRINTMAKING

FURNITURE PAINTING: BRING YOUR OWN PIECE

Start by evaluating and preparing your piece for painting, including selecting a color and discussing how you want your finished project to look. During the 2nd class, paint and learn about topcoats and enhancements like changing hardware, adding transfers, distressing and other finishing touches. Come and explore this ancient technique of painting on fabric. Batik is an Indonesian technique of wax-resist dyeing applied to whole cloth. Batik uses layers of wax and dye to produce designs on fabric. Learn how to prepare your fabric, apply wax-resist paint with dye and finish your piece. Leave with a beautiful one-of-a-kind scarf. Additional $20 material fee. Ages 18+

DRAWING THE HUMAN FIGURE

BLACK AND WHITE FILM PHOTOGRAPHY

Students will learn to develop and print their own black and white photographs in the darkroom using film. Students will work towards developing personal style through artist study as well as discussions of creative composition, exposure, and other artistic principles. Optional assignments and prompts will be given weekly to deepen their study. An additional $20 fee covers chemical use only, due to the instructor on the first day of class. Students are responsible for their own film and paper costs and should have a working film camera. Ilford HP5 400 Black and White Film is the preferred roll of film.
