"Atomic" Joint Plans

Leveraging Cognitive Neuroscience Research to Help Families Implement Joint Plans

September 3rd @ 12 - 1 pm EST

DESCRIPTION:

Early intervention (EI) providers are well-versed in evidence-based practices such as routine-based intervention and implementing a coaching style of interaction. However, even seasoned providers may struggle at times to help busy families create joint plans that they actually implement between EI visits. Join Lorelei Pisha for this Talks on Tuesdays webinar to learn how the latest in cognitive neuroscience research (e.g., habit formation and mental maps) can assist EI providers as they coach families to develop joint plans that families are able to implement.

Lorelei Pisha, Ed.D.

works with the Virginia Early Intervention Professional Development Center to design and facilitate professional development opportunities for Virginia EI practitioners. Lorelei has been captivated by the intersection of cognition, neuroscience, adult learning, behavior change, and intervention for decades. During her graduate studies, she had the opportunity to work alongside early intervention faculty as they researched and re-designed graduate coursework to include relevant research and principles from the field of cognitive neuroscience. She has continued to follow this thread of inquiry, infusing relevant research into her work with adult learners.

The development of this resource was sponsored by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (Early Intervention Office) through a contract with the Partnership for People with Disabilities at Virginia Commonwealth University.
