In the first session of this two-part series, we will deepen our understanding of how our own cultural identities and beliefs develop, what shapes our beliefs about best practices in childrearing and early intervention provision, and how our beliefs and experiences shape our implicit biases.

Megan Schumaker-Murphy, EdD

Megan Schumaker-Murphy, EdD, is an assistant professor of childhood education and care at Salem State University.  She teaches courses related to early intervention, culturally responsive teaching, and primary social studies methods.  Dr. Schumaker-Murphy’s research and consulting focuses on enhancing equity across early childhood spaces.  Prior to becoming a professor, Dr. Schumaker-Murphy worked as an early intervention developmental therapist for ten years. She’s also worked as an Early Head Start teacher coach and special education preschool teacher.  She lives with her family and two adorable cats in Salem, MA.
