2022 Long Beach Homeless Count
The City of Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services is still searching for about 100 more volunteers for the 2022 Long Beach Homeless Count, the street count of people experiencing homelessness in Long Beach. The Count is a community-wide effort that provides a hands-on opportunity to hear directly from people experiencing homelessness and partner in improving the services and solutions The City's Health Department offers.
Volunteer
Register online by Thursday, January 6th to join a field team. Groups of three to five volunteers will be assigned a segment of the city for the street-based Count and will administer a survey to any individuals experiencing homelessness they count. Volunteers will also have gift cards and hygiene kits to distribute.

To reduce the spread of COVID-19, all volunteers will be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of the Count and will be required to wear face masks for the duration of the Count regardless of vaccination status.
Other Ways to Support
In addition to volunteering for a field team, we encourage you to help raise awareness and recruit other volunteers to participate in the Count by circulating this opportunity to your networks and on social media or by providing physical and/or monetary donations.

To financially contribute towards the Count, you can donate online to the Mayor’s Fund to End Homelessness and type “Homeless Count - Mayor's Fund” in the Additional Comments box. Donations can also be made by check. Donations can also be made by check, payable to "Long Beach Community Foundation," and write "Homeless Count - Mayor's Fund" in the memo section. Please mail check donations to Long Beach Community Foundation, 400 Oceangate, Suite 800, Long Beach, CA 90802. These donations are tax-deductible and will go towards gift cards and other incentives for individuals surveyed on the day of the Count.

You can also donate travel-sized hygiene products and socks distributed during the Count by dropping them off at the Long Beach Multi-Service Center, located at 1301 W 12th St., between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
