Managing Volunteer Risk in Your Nonprofit Organization
Greetings!
Nonprofits love volunteers! However, volunteerism can have risks both to and from the organization as well as any susceptible populations being served. Marcie will cover the legal aspects of what nonprofits need to know to manage that risk effectively. In addition, a panel of local nonprofit executives will share their experiences providing how they've applied these practices.
Marcie is the Dayton Director and Counsel for Pro Bono Partnership of Ohio. She is currently a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (C.C.E.P.), a member of the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics, an Advisory Board Member on both the Southern Ohio District Export Council (SODEC), as well as the Cintas Institute for Business Ethics Board through Xavier University.

Rudy Frank

Rudy is considered a Photographer, Philanthropist, Youth Mentor, and a “Gamified” Social Entrepreneur. After finishing his BFA in Photography Rudy trained to become a 3rd Degree Certified Black Belt Instructor. He discovered his passion for philanthropy during his career in youth development and pursued a Master’s Degree in 2016 focusing on the use of Game Theory to motivate and retain Communities, Volunteers and Donors in the Social Sector.
Barkha Patel
Pro Bono Partnership
of Ohio
Barkha is Director of Education and Senior Counsel at Pro Bono Partnership of Ohio. She educates nonprofit board members, attorneys, and executive staff about nonprofit-specific legal issues. Barkha also provides direct legal services to nonprofit organizations, focusing on nonprofit, tax-exempt, and corporate governance matters.
Jordan Tetting
American Red Cross
Jordan serves as the Regional Volunteer Services Officer for the Greater Cincinnati Dayton Region and the Ohio Buckeye Region of the American Red Cross. Jordan possesses eight years of management and leadership experience in the Red Cross has led the volunteer engagement and recruitment efforts of the Red Cross in communities across the state of Ohio since November 2017.
