About the Speaker


Coleen Thoene is a legal professional with over a decade of prosecution experience, including six years as Deputy Prosecutor for the Pascua Yaqui Tribe. She specializes in Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and Special Tribal Criminal Jurisdiction (STCJ) prosecutions and appeals, and regularly presents on tribal sovereignty in criminal justice. Previously, Coleen spent eight years at the Pima County Attorney’s Office, handling cases in domestic violence, narcotics, and special victims crimes. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a law degree from the University of Arizona, bringing a unique perspective that blends creativity, precision, and storytelling to her legal practice. Coleen is also dedicated to mentoring, training law enforcement and attorneys in effective case narrative building.
