At this year’s Innovate Michigan! Summit on Thursday, August 14th, join us for an engaging session that highlights the real-world impact of community-driven innovation. In Innovation and Resilience: Voices from the Field, REI Innovation Fellows will share how their ideas took shape and evolved through engagement with the communities they serve. Moderated by David Palmer, CEO of Kite and Key Partners, the panel features Christopher Miller (CEO, National Coalition for Community Capital), Norman Christopher (Sustainable Business Practices LLC), and Randy Yagiela (Align Center for Workforce Development).
Fellows will reflect on how the communities they work with have shaped and strengthened their projects, share real-world examples of overcoming challenges, and discuss moments when setbacks opened unexpected opportunities. Together, we’ll consider how REI’s network of innovators, partners, and peers can help sustain this work beyond traditional funding and what role partnerships, peer learning, and collective action play in keeping innovation alive.
