Water-Marbling: Habotai Silk Scarf

Experience the magic and mystery of water marbling, an ancient Japanese technique, with artist Julie Ehrentraut of Mizu Marbling Art. Learn the history behind the techniques then choose your colors, design, and paint your very own habotai silk scarf masterpiece! All skill levels welcome. Materials provided.

Sketch and Paint Along with Robert: A Country Road in Autumn

2-hour Zoom workshop with Robert Carsten

This fun and engaging workshop will surely get your creativity flowing. Learn sketching and painting tips and techniques to create lively and beautiful works of art that reveal an integral visual dialogue between drawing and painting. Sketch and paint along, step-by-step, with noted artist Robert Carsten, using a combination of pencil, pen, and watercolor. Working on a small scale, we will create a line and wash painting from a photo of fall foliage on a country road.

AbStranded: Fiber and Abstraction in Contemporary Art

Opens September 18

AbStranded features ten contemporary American artists—Polly Apfelbaum, Paolo Arao, Sanford Biggers, Samantha Bittman, Julia Bland, Rachel B. Hayes, Elana Herzog, Anne Lindberg, Sheila Pepe, and Sarah Zapata—who use fiber-based materials to investigate the complex lineage of abstraction.

Prisms and Antiphons

Join us in a thrilling concert of newly commissioned works relating to AbStranded: Fiber and Abstraction in Contemporary Art. Celebrated composer, conductor, and violinist David Fulmer has curated an afternoon of works inspired by, and composed alongside the works in AbStranded. Fulmer will lead the audience on a physical tour of the Museum, performing in front of different works of art.
