Professional Development Essentials Series Starts This Thursday


IN-PERSON

Part 1 - Thursday, October 27, 2022

Part 2 - Thursday, November 9, 2022

9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.


Participants will discuss the importance of understanding where they come from in terms of culture and values. Participants will discover where they are going in terms of direction and vision through guided exercises that examine destiny and attitude. Participants will engage in activities to practice techniques that build a positive environment for youth by modeling how to follow their purpose and values.

Youth Planning Basics

10/28/22 - 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.



When youth plan, they practice the critical life skills of thinking through an activity or project and setting goals and intentions. This training introduces afterschool staff to strategies that provide youth with structured planning opportunities for everyday activities in your program. In this hands-on training, you will practice tangible lessons that you can put into practice with youth right away.



CEUs: Upon successful completion of this training series and follow up assignment(s), the participant will earn 1.5 clock hours (.2 CEUs) of training.

In this captivating four-part series, you will learn how to create, run and sustain a fun and effective Teen Advisory Council Series that will strengthen your program, give youth a meaningful voice, and provide additional benefits for both teens and adults.


Please note: Only afterschool practitioners working with middle school, high school or fifth grade elementary youth should register for this training.

Lights On Afterschool was launched in October 2000 with celebrations in 1,200 communities nationwide. Today, more than 8,000 Lights On Afterschool rallies are held annually, attracting about a million individuals and media coverage nationwide. Prime Time helped to host Lights On Afterschool celebrations in three out-of-school time programs in Palm Beach County on October 20, 2022. Prime Time Offers Financial Rewards for Continuing Your Training/Education

 

Financial incentives for practitioners actively participating in the Palm Beach County Quality Improvement System are available through the Prime Time ACHIEVE Out-of-School Time (OST) incentive award program. Supplements range from $50.00 to $3,000.00 depending on the training and education obtained.

Essay and Arts Contest for High School Students 

The Palm Beach County Community Remembrance Project is partnering with the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) to offer a voluntary scholarship essay contest open to youth in grades 9 -12 attending public high school in Palm Beach County.

Prize: At least $5,000 in scholarship awards.
