Looking for activities to help your child discover new interests while having fun after the school day? IPSF’s ACE program is excited to be offering engaging new enrichment classes right before and after school on the Venado campus for nominal fees.
Classes will be kept small to ensure optimal engagement and safety.
Registration opens November 4.

Homework Club P.M.
Homework Club is facilitated by Venado teachers and is open to all Venado Middle School students. The goal is to support students in achieving academic success by providing individual monitoring of homework completion and assistance while developing basic work habits. Choose two days per week (Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday schedule), or all four days for additional afterschool support.

Yoga
Join us for a vinyasa style Yoga class where each student will learn to move into fundamental yoga postures, practice breath techniques and journey into fun advanced poses in time. During this 6 week yoga series, which consists of 10 class meetings, students will be given the opportunity to learn the foundations of a safe and sustainable yoga practice so they can build into more challenging poses. This multilevel yoga experience is available to all students. We will create a safe, supportive and non-competitive atmosphere while building community.
Some benefits of yoga include increased flexibility, strength and focus, building self-esteem and learning how to reduce stress through practicing yoga on and off the mat. Multilevel proper alignment in postures, relaxation techniques and breath work will all be covered in this 45 minute class. Students can expect a fun playlist with energetic music throughout.

NASP – National Archery in the Schools Program
Join us this year as we begin archery at Venado. Students will be introduced to archery through the NASP program which promotes instruction in international-style target archery to improve educational performance and participation in the shooting sports. Students will have the opportunity to learn and practice archery in a safe and fun environment.

Pickleball
Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong and is also fun, social, and friendly. It is one of the fastest growing sports in America. In this class, students will learn proper techniques of the forehand and backhand, serving, and game strategy. Students will learn fun lead-up games and compete in game play of singles and doubles with other classmates. No experience needed.
DATES*: November 23, 30, December 7, 14, January 4, 11, 25, February 1, 8, 15 & 22

American Sign Language (ASL)
Are you interested in learning and practicing American Sign Language (ASL)? Do you want to communicate with your deaf and hard-of-hearing peers? By the end of this class, you will develop receptive and expressive skills, be able to have basic conversations in ASL, learn the truth behind common myths about deaf and hard-of-hearing people, understand events from deaf history, and have a lot of fun learning! No experience needed.
DATES*: December 1, 8, 15, January 5, 12, 19, 26, February 2, 9, 16 & 23

Math Counts
The MATHCOUNTS Competition Series is the only program of its kind, with live, in-person events in all 50 states, as well as schools worldwide through the U.S. Dept. of Defense and State Dept. competitions take place in over 500 local chapters. The Competition Series is ideal for students who have a talent and passion for math who need to be challenged.
Students will engage in exciting, "bee-style" contests in which they will compete against and alongside other bright, motivated students. At the local, state and national level, students win hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships and prizes every year. Everyone is welcome to participate in the class. The class culminates in the selection of 10 students who will represent VMS in the chapter competition with the possibility to advance beyond. Mrs. Sarah Chade will be leading the class and the VMS team.

A limited number of partial scholarships are available for all classes based on financial need. Income documentation is required for approval. Parents may apply for assistance by completing the Scholarship Application available at www.ipsf.net/ace.
