The COVID-19 pandemic has underscored how important internet access is in staying connected during difficult times. Internet access isn’t always available or dependable in many communities across the United States, meaning that many lack the ability to secure training or resources in a number of fields.
This course from NTEN covers everything you need to know about expanding home connectivity and digital access in your community. Kami Griffiths, executive director and co-founder of the Community Tech Network and a founder of the National Digital Inclusion Alliance, will present.

The Carolinas CARE Partnership in Charlotte, NC has received a Partnership for Success (PFS) grant to address opioid misuse and abuse. The target population is LGBTQ people ages 14-25 and people living with HIV. The name of their project is OPT Out. The goal of the OPT Out Program is to increase collaboration between Carolinas CARE Partnership and local agencies to address opioid misuse and abuse for those they serve.
Carolinas CARE Partnership serves ten counties in North Carolina and South Carolina: Mecklenburg, Gaston, Union, Rowan, Iredell, Lincoln, Cabarrus, York, Chester, and Lancaster. They are inspired to increase awareness and decrease stigma related to substance use disorders and HIV/AIDS, with a focus on community engagement and opioid abuse prevention with a trauma-informed, harm reduction approach. Ultimately, OPT Out will reduce prescription drug misuse among those they serve through their Coalition and partnerships with community stakeholders. They are working to help youth opt out of substance abuse!
They will be hosting their Coalition Launch Party, virtually, on Tuesday, December 15th at 2:00 p.m. EST. If you, or someone in your organization, is interested in being involved with the OPT Out Program, or joining our Coalition, please reach out to Leslie Dill, OPT Out Program Manager, at [email protected].
