CHF COVID-19 Protocols
Check out our new protocols for reopening in the video below:
The health and safety of our members and staff remains our top priority. As we are able to safely allow more participation in person, we will provide updates on the reopening of our other programs. We can't wait to see everyone back in person in the near future!

CHF programming will continue to be guided by the L.A. County Department of Public Health and its Health Officer Order Appendix L: "Reopening Protocol for Gyms and Fitness establishments" to keep our community safe and to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
Reopening FAQ
Will instructors and members all be required to wear face masks while at CHF, even if they are fully vaccinated?
Yes. Any person at CHF (including those who are vaccinated against COVID-19) will be required to wear a face mask. The Health Officer Order states that face masks are required.

What is the maximum number of people permitted at CHF?
The Health Officer Order states that CHF will be limited to a 25% capacity for indoor exercise. This means CHF is allowed to have a maximum of 60 people inside its facility, including staff.

What programs will be offered in person?
  • Personal Training
  • Small Group Training
  • Massage
  • Private Pilates
  • Indoor Workout Equipment Reservations
  • Outdoor Group Exercise Classes (Beginning May 1)
  • Indoor Classes (Date TBA)

All services are by appointment only. Classes are also available virtually at this time.

Where do I enter CHF?
You will check-in on the first floor by the elevators in front of the cafe. You must have an appointment to enter. To protect the safety of residents at Silverado, members are not allowed to enter or exit via the front sliding doors.

Where do I exit CHF?
You will exit using the elevators in the CHF hallway by manager offices, left of the front desk. You must then exit on the first floor by the cafe. To protect the safety of residents at Silverado, members are not allowed to enter or exit via the front sliding doors. There will be arrows directing you.

Do you have to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to attend CHF in person?
No, this is not a requirement for working out at CHF. However, face masks are required.

Will membership auto billing be reinstated?
Beginning Saturday May 1, CHF Basic Membership fee will increase $5 per month and will include:
  • Indoor Gym Floor Exercise Equipment Reservations
  • Outdoor Group Exercise Classes
  • Indoor Group Exercise Classes Classes (when available)
  • Virtual Classes

As an example, if you used to pay $44/month for basic membership, you would now pay $49/month. Auto billing will only be reinstated beginning May 2 if you opt to re-start your membership. If you opt to keep your membership frozen and pay per visit, each visit will be $10 beginning May 1. Re-start your membership HERE.

Will you be required to sign up to use CHF in person?
Yes, appointments are required. Before you enter CHF, we will verify your appointment. All members coming to CHF in person will be required to fill out a COVID-19 code of conduct form. If you would like to fill yours out in advance and bring it with you to your appointment, see HERE. You only need to fill this out once.

Will you still offer virtual classes and workouts?
Yes! We will continue to offer our virtual classes, Small Group Training and Personal Training. Learn more at www.beachcitiesgym.org/virtualgroupexercise.

What safety measures is CHF taking?
  • Screening before members go inside, including temperature checks, a verbal screening questionnaire and appointment confirmation. Members will also be required to sign a new code of conduct to ensure the safety of all members and staff. Face masks are required and will be available if needed.
  • Physical distancing stickers have been installed around the facility, along with hand sanitizer stations, gym wipes, and plexiglass between members and staff at check in.
  • Fewer machines will be available to allow for physical distancing. Cardio guards, which offer a divider between workout machines, are in place.
  • CHF will utilize cleaning products that kill the COVID-19 virus. Staff will clean all equipment after each use. In addition, an outside cleaning company will clean every hour CHF is open, as well as before CHF opens and after it closes. Members are also asked to wipe down machines after use.
  • Members will be required to wear a face mask while at CHF and bring their own water and towel.
  • Trainers will wear a face mask, face shield, gloves and protective gowns will also be available if requested by the client.
  • The massage therapist will wear a face mask, face shield, face gaiter and protective gown.
  • An air purifier is located in the massage room and new filters have been installed in the HVAC system throughout the facility.
  • Showers and lockers will not be available, although restrooms will be open.
  • CHF staff will arrange for proper PPE disposal for any protective gear worn by employees.
  • We continue to follow the Medical Fitness Association guidelines under our certification as a Medical Fitness Facility as well as the guidelines set by the L.A. County Department of Public Health. We are also under the guidance of Beach Cities Health District Chief Medical Advisor Dr. William Kim.

Does Beach Cities Health District and the Center for Health & Fitness recommend I get the COVID-19 vaccine if I am eligible?
The Beach Cities Health District Medical Advisory Committee strongly recommends residents to get a COVID-19 vaccine that has been authorized by the FDA. Getting the vaccine is voluntary, although vaccines are an important public health measure to protect the health of not only yourself, but of your community.
