Seasoned Spirits,
Our first group trip in 2024 is set for Hannibal, Missouri on Wednesday, April 24. We will start our trip by visiting Hannibal's newest museum "Jim's Journey: The Huck Finn Freedom Center," which is a small museum documenting African American history in northeast Missouri and focusing on the very real person behind the "Jim" character in Mark Twain's famous novel. Just a couple of blocks away, we will enjoy an authentic Irish lunch at the Ole Wolfhound Pub, featuring entrees such as reuben sandwiches, fish n' chips, bangers, and more. There should be a little time after lunch for shopping at some of the local stores within close walking distance (antique stores, quilt shops, pottery store, ice cream parlor, etc). Just around the corner from our lunch restaurant, we will board the Mark Twain Riverboat for a one-hour narrated cruise on the Mighty Mississippi River (with concessions, a stocked bar and restrooms onboard). After our cruise, we will take a short drive to the grand Rockcliffe Mansion for a one-hour guided tour of this huge and impressive historical home perched atop a rocky bluff overlooking Hannibal and the Mississippi River.

Accessibility:
Jim's Journey museum is fully accessible, has no stairs, and will have seating available. The Mark Twain Riverboat is wheelchair-accessible on the first level of the boat, but the upper levels are not wheelchair-accessible. Rockcliffe Mansion is NOT wheelchair-accessible as it is a historically-preserved site, and the guided tour covers three stories, all of which have original staircases.
Registration & Cost:
The first opportunity to register for this Hannibal trip will be at the Seasoned Spirits luncheon on Monday, March 11. For those who do not sign up at the luncheon, there will be another email sent out after the luncheon that will include a link to register online for this trip. The church bus will transport the first 12 people who request bus transport, and we will try to arrange carpools for the rest of the group. The cost for this trip is $42 per person (which does not include lunch, which will be billed individually by the Ole Wolfhound Pub). The $42 fee can be paid (by cash or by check made out to "BCC") either on March 11 at the Seasoned Spirits luncheon or AFTER the March 11 luncheon to Ingrid in the church office. The deadline for registration and payment is Tuesday, March 26. No refunds will be available after March 26.
